And at some point before that, those words would have been gibberish to all of us.

Oh I guess it was cheaper back in 2017 π
I feel like I paid $20 extra on top of my passport book renewal

It's also pretty cheap so in my view it can't hurt to even have a backup ID that you can use. No downsides!

I got a passport card back in 2017 because it fulfilled RealID and it doesn't list an address, so if you move it's still valid

My current area of focus is writing postcards to federal employees, and I feel like that might be a nice on-ramp for more people to get involved that might be uncomfortable with other actions. I want to help the people around me shift out of hopelessness and overwhelm.

It's a really good question to ask! I've been thinking about force multipliers a bit - people, consistency, time. The #TeslaTakedown movement has put these to very effective use, and we can directly see outcomes. Are there other places we could use this recipe?

Yesssss. When I was making masks in 2020, I purposely chose fun fabrics bc it felt like incorporating a fun element helped combat fear. Fun invites people in!

This type has the pull-out legs that use metal push-buttons and corresponding holes. These are the most portable and sturdy for the size, but I'd also invest in a pair of protective work gloves to maximize grip and make sure you don't get pinched. (I apparently have Thoughtsβ’ on tables)

I'm very practiced at this myself, but for new people it can be hard. it's complicated too, bc a lot of people arent used to this work, don't have a sense of their options, and also have a very distorted view of the social risk of taking action. There's so much to unpack.

This is fair! And I think it's important for us to look at impact from many angles. Sometimes your impact is limited to a few people. Sometimes you'll never see or meet the people you help. Often, no one will thank you. But these tiny acts repeated over time, by many people WILL and DO make change

I am losing patience FAST with defeatist attitudes, and "I hate this but I've decided I'm not doing anything about it other than complaining

This is one reason I love my neighborhood. Much easier to do than when I lived in a big city. Now I know my neighbors dogs names AND their people's names.

I designed and printed my own, and have put together a list of local offices. Got some pre-adressed postcards at a local cafe, too!
