This is Kristi Noem admitting that Homeland Security is currently occupying Los Angeles, not to protect citizens, but for purely *political* reasons. Yes, she really is that stupid.

I remember when I'd pick up a paper and read news on the front page about an attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan or the US invasion of Grenada. Now? I'm delighted to read on the NY Times' frontpage that, as the world is spiraling chaotically, Audrey Gelman’s World Isn’t Millennial Pink Anymore.

I was a member of a dadaist intramural basketball team in college, The Flygirls. We lost every game, but I learned then that one can seize the advantage by confounding and perplexing people. Hit them with something from left field. Disorientation is a powerful tool.

“Pretty much wherever you are, you’re probably less than 30 minutes away from your closest No Kings event.” - @leahgreenberg.bsky.social with @democracynow.org We hope to see you at your local #NoKings Day mobilization on Saturday: www.nokings.org?SQF_SOURCE=i...

I saw Schoolhouse Rock. I know that power derives from a mandate from the masses, not some farcical aquatic ceremony. And I'm taking that knowledge to the streets this weekend. Hope to see you there.

Truth hurts liars. Sunlight disinfects. Live in the truth. As Havel wrote, living authentically and standing up to the lie is the power of the powerless.

I'm attending “NO KINGS in Philadelphia”—sign up now to join me! Or visit www.mobilize.us/nokings/ to find a local rally. Get your butts out there, people!

This just in—Battle: Los Angeles aired on Trump's favorite TV station a few days ago. There is a high probability that he saw it, thought it was news footage (despite the lack of blonde talking heads), and now believes L.A. is being invaded by actual murderous aliens.

We've gotten so used to seeing pictures of heavily policed protest crowds that sometimes we forget police's primary job at a protest is supposed to be ensuring that people can exercise their First Amendment protected rights, not shutting the protest down as quickly as possible.

Dude, tomorrow's already the tenth.

This administration is so fragile. Even the faintest criticism stings them to the quick.

What's the over/under for how many days before Elon perishes because of a "freak plane crash," "drug overdose," "killer robot rampage," "rocket accident," or "experimental Li-ion battery explosion"? Are there Vegas odds yet? If not, maybe the AI that generated the tariffs could take a shot at it.

Don't screw around on the internets with an insanely rich, ketamine-infused manchild, no matter how much he reminds you of one of the campier Bond villains. It's not a rule yet, but it's one I'm proposing at this year's nominating convention.

Elsewhere in the multiverse . . . .

DEAN: What's the tariff on bananas? LUTNICK: Generally 10% DEAN: Walmart has already increased the cost of bananas by 8% LUTNICK: If you build in America, there is no tariff DEAN: We cannot build bananas in America

A fight in a madhouse about who is Napoleon...

Oh yeah

Universities should be home to disagreement and debate. We do not make progress when we regurgitate received knowledge we've learned by rote. (AI can do that better than we can anyway.)

HAWLEY: Let's see the Trump chart. You don't think it's a little bit anomalous that Trump has so many more nationwide injunctions against him? KATE SHAW: A very plausible explanation you have to consider is that he's engaged in much more lawless activity than other presidents

I had a weekday morning ritual growing up. Before middle school and high school, it consisted of making myself some breakfast, checking the baseball box scores, and reading "Bloom County." Bloom County, George Carlin, and Frank Zappa taught me to be an attentive smartass in Reagan's 1980s.

"Yo, dawg, is that a WOLF MAN standing behind you?!??!???"

It was charming when pop culture criticized corruption. Now it's so passé. "A little girl saw you accepting the Sky Palace from Qatar and is losing faith in democracy, President Trump." "WTF do I care? Bring me a Diet Coke and have Stephen Miller scrubbed and brought to my tent."
