they/them - I appreciate automotive design but don’t think our world should be dominated by automobiles. Also on IG as autoverse.

It’s the little details like this that can break your immersion in the story being told. Whilst I don’t expect them to have full control on background vehicles, these ones were selected to be on screen. A Scirocco would have been a better fit and sold the 80s setting.

Briefly worked at a used dealership, I was tasked taking photos of the stock. Went to drive a car and the key fell apart in my hand as I turned it in the ignition. The immobiliser did its thing and the car was stuck on the lot for days, until a main dealer could retrieve it (low volume brand).

Looks like the soil from a very dead potted plant.

I recall getting disappointed as a child, when my father said he was going to see a man about a dog. I was expecting him to come home with a puppy, he was actually going down to the pub.

Kinda looks like it’s only there to fill the space.

That’s certainly a better use of street space than the storage of a motor vehicle.

Ok, that’s something to think about. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

For me it’s the Sail.

Years ago I used to carry a camera with me everywhere I went, wouldn’t leave a house without one around my neck. I’m considering going back to doing that, it’s just the other end of getting the photos off the camera that’s tiresome (fed up with computers), phones are a convenient compromise.

They’re unlikely to receive a renewal from me, I’ve been using Prime since 2012. They’ve slowly chipped away at it, the shared Prime benefits was my last remaining justification to continue with it.

The builder of that car also did this:

Firstly, I wasn’t expecting a reference to Tyrrell & Green, it’s somewhere I’ve only ever heard of (family from that area). And secondly, the way the steering wheel kept centring itself reminded me of an arcade racing game.

Reminds me of this “Golf”, which is also built on a Beetle floorpan. I encountered it in the wild once when out for a random forest drive. youtu.be/deX9tU3elDU?...

The coupe in the background of Jim’s photo makes me wonder if anyone has built replica out of one.

I really like their Little D kit for the Suzuki Every. www.damd.co.jp/products/suz...

I’m so familiar with their retro stuff, that sometimes I forget a Lancer Evo with one of their kits was in 2 Fast 2 Furious.

It’s just a little hatchback, perfect for running errands in.

This popped up on my IG feed a few hours ago, certainly caught my eye.

Nice to see one that isn’t jacked up and plastered in “One Life. Live It.” Stickers, it’s the “Live, Laugh, Love” of off roaders.

They just see the number of “ow my back” dodgy insurance claims when looking at seats.

That could be a byproduct of folks using them for freelance courier work.

The TRN on the plate caught my eye, last week I saw a Lancia Stratos replica with TRN as a prefix. (Comes back as a Lancia 2000)
I found a pic of it on Flickr, sharing this as there’s no login required. Although I did post a photo I took of it to my IG.

Certainly looks cleaner than the chrome laden facelift, which was an attempt to bring it in line with the Explorer.

Looks pretty legit from here, there’s no visually apparent signs that it’s 3D printed.

This is the website I used to check the plate:
vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk
I also used the MOT website (as seen in the previous screenshot) and it came back as Marlene. There’s obviously some sort of discrepancy between the two databases. Probs due to human error.

Odd, I just checked again and it came back as Mercedes. I used two other third party sites and got Mercedes on one and Marlene on the other.

Date of first registration with the DVLA is 2016. It’s registered as a Mercedes which seems somewhat disingenuous considering it’s a kit car.

After asking the question, I referred to this website: www.olavsplates.com and it seems the plates were issued in Sofia.

I had a quick look, certainly looks like they’ve extended the vehicles lifespan.

They’re keen to point out that it’s MOT exempt, makes me wonder if it would even pass one. Although regardless of that it is somewhat tempting, spent a fair amount of my childhood in one that had a similar interior.

I can kinda see that, it’s all in the eyebrows and that slightly intense look.

The fact that they wouldn’t accept any payment from credit cards should have been a big red flag to people. Shows they didn’t want to even contemplate dealing with refunds.

I certainly went off that for several years, I did start watching it again recently but more so out of curiosity.

I often find myself listening to the radio version. ( it’s just audio lifted from the TV recording), solid satire is oft timeless.

Not quite what you asked, it’s more of a response vehicle. But a F250 is certainly an unexpected vehicle to be used for the British Touring Car Championship. btcc.net/toca-unveils...

But back when Rockstar were trying to be more generic, instead of the blatant ripoffs they do now.
