No, it's not a Cuban, goddamn it. It's Dominican.

I've only seen Asteroid City once, so have to revisit it. I see all of his films (sometimes late), but have never felt the elation I did when I saw Rushmore since.
Maybe it's because I'm older and jaded.

That's how I feel about most of his films, honestly. Really enjoyed the look and characterizations of Asteroid City, but there's no meat on those bones.
Truly I only genuinely like 2 of his films - Rushmore and Tenenbaums.

I never would've believed a bluray of a made-for-tv-in-the-70s movie would be necessary, but we watched it in the backyard 2 summers ago and it looked *amazing*.
So damned entertaining.

I have enough.
I have a few of the guns that won us WWII, which it seems fitting to use against nazis again.

Since by Church law all the involved parties had to be dead before the docs saw the light of day, kinda puts a dagger into the whole "resurrection" story, eh?

I know. I just can't believe both Tremors and Arachnophobia - neither of which even feel like horror movies to me at all - can be among favorites for 1990 when that one is a choice.
I never think about either of those two, but Jacob's Ladder haunts me to this day.

There's zero chance Arachnophobia is a better horror movie than Jacob's Ladder.

No other institution more irrationally motivated is ascribed more rationality than economic markets.

Now Aaron, I'm sire all the details of this newly-completed trade deal will be made public in about two weeks.

Well I guess Mexico will just have to send troops in to destroy the factories of death, then.
(That's the Trumpian logic against drug cartels, right?)

I'm sure it's about what a crazed - probably drug-addled - nutbag hermit John of Patmos was.

Here, I can say "Fuck the USA," and nobody bats an eye. If I said that in China, I'd be disappeared.
So no.

I know it is a one-party super surveillance state where the merest criticism of the ruling class - or simply belonging to a particular ethnic community - can get you sent to a gulag for life, so WTF else do I need to know?
Fuck China.

As calamitous as things are here, were I a prominent scientist in the US, the last place I would move would be China.

Yeah, that's not what this is.
It's naked homophobia, sexism, and racism, all to appease the Orange God-King.
Stop acting like this is merely a government policy shift.

As Harlan Ellison knew decades ago, it doen't matter whether God is in the machine or not; the machine will still behave *as if* it is God, and we will all suffer tortures because of it.
