But you just know Nintendo wouldn't put in the effort to uncap the framerates :(

I wonder if there's anyway to check how much uses of the term "enemy behavior" have gone up in the past 2 years

It's aight. Open world is bizarrely separate from the entire rest of the game, grand prixs are confusingly structured, and the racing dynamics are a bit more homogenous than the last game in standard play, but, like, it's still Mario Kart, and Mario Kart is fun

oh interesting! I don't know too much about the 3D rendering terms, but raycasting *as opposed to* rasterizing? Or am I misunderstanding the categories?
comment in response to post
oh apparently what I'm doing is just called 'multi-point perspective.' At least according to the first thing that comes up on google: "A multi-point perspective is a scenario with more than 2 primary Vanishing Points on the Horizon Line." www.sketchlikeanarchitect.com/blog/how-to-...

Every time you post a clip of this, I'm super curious: how does the FOV work in your engine? Is it just wider than normal, getting that curved look, or does the way you're rendering things inherently produce that cool fish-eye look somehow else?

I don't recall that game specifically, but I've loved seeing how games handle this for a while, and I finally got the perspective I was looking for! (Previous versions for really distorted if I went more than like 2 tiles out cuz I don't know anything about illustration rules lol)
comment in response to post
Or, like, if you put two separate 2 pt perspective drawings next to each other so that the vanishing points in the middle are in the same place
comment in response to post
I've seen a lot of images like that before; that's definitely what is in my mind as standard 3 pt perspective. But then what do you call perspective that has 3 vanishing points that make a horizontal line? Like, if you put an alleyway in the center of your standard two point perspective city corner
comment in response to post
That is what I thought it would be, but it's not! When I just follow two vanishing points, this distortion ends up happening, where the cubes get wider and wider the further back I go (1st image). I had to use a third vanishing point in the center to place the lines correctly (2nd image).

And here it is with the hidden center point perspective guides and the vanishing points!

actually breaking every single one of these faces into individual sprites for a tileset is going to be a ~nightmarrrrrrrrre~ I did this in the @gamemaker.io image editor, btw, just so you know I'm a fuckin' crazy person

The world could be a more inviting place to live

Gotcha, so all that in mind: where do you see the hope for next time coming from? You mentioned non-voters, but what are you hoping happens in that regard, and how do you think we can sustain it?
comment in response to post
I'm not totally following. I agree that Republicans live for our infighting, but what part am I misunderstanding? From where I'm standing it sounds like you're saying: 1. Harris and Clinton's campaigns were run extremely well 2. Nothing will change the minds of people who didn't vote for them.
comment in response to post
If your belief is that the campaigns did nothing wrong, and the people can't change, then I'm sorry, but that's a hopeless fatalism I just can't see any purpose to
comment in response to post
Let's take a step back and think about responsibility: of course we'd all be better off if the people who voted for Trump didn't do that, but they did. I don't personally see much coming from blaming voters for that. Shame isn't a good mass motivator. The politicians on the other hand...
comment in response to post
Do you think candidates run campaigns on accident?
comment in response to post
It was their job to get people to vote for them, and they failed

Is the ground 'unevenness' here from real geometry, normal maps, or parallax occlusion maps?

Your work is so inspiring. I wish I knew how to do even a 10th of what you're accomplishing

Dude I'd buy this as a shirt

I would love to leave Windows behind, but I'm worried about compatibility on Linux with a lot of the stuff I use. Are there any solid guides on handling that?

I finally started Andor, so we chillin'

This seems extremely context dependent. Inventory management is core gameplay in some stuff, and in those cases it'd be like asking why there has to be gravity in a platformer

Been laughing at this for a full minute

I'm confused. Surely you would post this in response to Elon saying that to indicate that Elon is lying, right?

This just means they produced more for day one though, right? Don't most consoles sell out just about everywhere on launch day?

Just as valid a position as any other. You are a badass

Content warning: blood, serious head injury. A woman was run down and trampled and clubbed by LAPD officers on horseback. She appears to be seriously injured and bleeding from the head as an officer drags her limp body along the pavement.

They talk to police spokespersons like peers and experts, but act like the protesters are some foreign species to be observed from afar. It's dehumanizing on a level I always forget exists until I come back to these dinosaur organizations.
