But the main menu experience is really offputting for a lot of people, which is a huge shame because the actual gameplay is awesome

It's almost as if all those times people called out the creeping fascism they were actually correct, the dipshit dismissive handwaving of your ilk washing it away as exaggeration directly contributed to getting us here today.

I think there's also a hefty helping of denialism as a psychological defense mechanism. It's unthinkable that it could all happen again

They have this image in mind of what a smart boffin professor sounds like and then do a minstrel show of that stereotype in their writing or speech, to the detriment of a good and solid argument they could've explained to a five year old

I don't know of any specific resources for this but when i have mentored people on academic writing, i always give one very firm piece of advice:
"Don't try to sound smart."
Lots of people have this problem of using oversized words or words like "therefore" and "moreover" when they don't need to

like, propositional / statement logic should be clear and simple anyway, because the argument has been broken down into its smallest parts and straightened out. So if saying that out loud isn't compelling, stylising it isn't going to make any difference

I think the problem you're describing doesn't have a proper solution, and has existed for a long time. It's basically why things like rhetoric and sophism are the predominant forms of persuasive speech rather than presenting clear, valid and true logical arguments

Unless I'm misunderstanding, basically this is what is taught in literally any book about predicate logic? Any set of statements that can constitute an argument with premises and a conclusion can be converted to predicate logic

Witty was mostly about philosophy of linguistics, but there are loads of resources out there on predicate logic!
