The world cannot afford Xmas lights. The energy needed to power Xmas lights is outrageous. For the sake of our planet, displaying Xmas lights must be made illegal in the US.

I keep thinking Bluesky is probably a waste of time and that I should just stick to Nostr, which is truly different than all other social platforms.

Arrogant crypto bros are why most people turn off as soon as they hear the word “bitcoin”

The points about Saylor are fair. He should do more to support devs. But much of the world doesn’t even know who he is. Much of the world thinks bitcoiners are assholes because they think bitcoin = crypto scams.

The rest. I agree that ETFs are a great way to dip your toe in. But I would highly encourage everyone to learn how to custody their own bitcoin.

Not enough people understand this. Trump isn’t a bitcoiner, he’s just another shitcoin scammer.

The polls were actually pretty close this year. Most had Trump with a 1 or 2 point lead. If it passes, it’s a huge win for bitcoin and for the US. But I have major doubts that it’s feasible. Despite what we’d like to believe, bitcoin is far far far down the list of Trump’s priorities.

And many bills pass the house only to languish in the Senate.

I’m aware of Lummis’s bill. Thousands of bills are written that never make it to the floor for a vote. There has been no real reporting on this being taken up for consideration in any serious way.

The prediction markets had Ohio State as a favorite to win the Big Ten Championship.

The opposite may be true.

Bitcoin became what it is through a confluence of good timing and a lot of luck. Simple, elegant design. Distributed widely and very quickly. Proof of work. And there is no founder that stands to make disproportionate gains. Nothing can replicate that. Even if not perfect, it’s the one.

There are so many reasons congress would never allocate funds to a “bitcoin reserve” including - not understanding bitcoin - undermining the dollar - no modern parallel policy example to draw from - political polarization

One of bitcoin’s greatest strengths is that it’s slow to evolve and difficult to change. Being the hardest money the world has ever known is doing more than any other crypto currency can hope to achieve.

US already holds bitcoin. Not selling it could be called a “reserve”. But there’s no chance Congress could pass a bill to purchase a set amount of bitcoin as a reserve. Believing otherwise is denial of how far we still are from mainstream.

How could an international non-inflationary standard of value be bad for society? Bad for governments, maybe. But great for society by allowing people full control over their own money.

I don’t waste time or energy on crypto. I just stack sats.

You are exactly why I am here, sir. For the record, if you buy bitcoin and then sell it, you do have to pay taxes on your financial gains.

I should clarify - by “learning” I mean consuming mass quantities of bitcoin content. I’m not a bitcoin expert, but I’m also no longer a beginner. Especially after riding BTC from $60K all the way down to $15K and now up near $100K.

My favorite Nostr app is Primal. Damus is also good. The best thing about Nostr is the bitcoin integrations that are possible. For instance, replacing post likes with “zaps” - micro bitcoin tips via lightening wallets.
