I was at the rally in Eugene. Seemed to be 4,000-5,000 people. All well behaved. Nobody blocked the street… People thanked the police for helping…it could not have possibly gone better. I'm really proud of everybody. It ain't easy to stay on task and message when there's so much to be upset about.

11 June 1942 | Italian Jewish boy, Massimo D'Angeli, was born in Florence. He arrived at Auschwitz on 14 November 1943 with his older brother Carlo. They were both murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection with their mother Renata.

Newsom responds to Homan statement on possibly arresting him: He's a tough guy. Why doesn't he do that? He knows where to find me. Lay your hands off four year old girls that are trying to get educated. Come and arrest me. Let’s just get it over with tough guy. I don’t give a damn

D-Day Veteran in his 90s wading in the shores of Juno beach with a Canadian flag. Don't mess with us fascists this is ANTIFA - Canada Style.

Thinking of Shannen Koostachin. She was 13 when she stood up to the government's discrimination against Indigenous kids. She launched the largest youth rights movement in CDN history. We lost her at 15 on this night. I still cry when I talk about Shannen. She came from the angels and went home.

If this is even remotely accurate, Elon Musk and Donald Trump have killed more people in several months than the Iraq war killed in a decade

“If I died, and my body was never recovered, no one would ever know how desperately I had clung to life, how I’d fought to live even when despair felt absolute.” Alec Frydman was lost at sea for 13 days. How he survived: https://theatln.tc/cEfefBO1

The report below includes audio of an interview with Fr. Carlos Ferrera in Holy Family Church, Gaza (which Pope Francis used to call every evening). He describes the dire situation, with scarcity of food, constant displacements, etc. He expresses appreciation for Pope Leo's mentions of Gaza. ✝️🙏

This is the hardest I’ve ever been owned online

I mean, like 95% of the Spanish Inquisition was exasperated and tired dudes explaining to the 500th time to illiterates that their neighbor isn’t the devil because she has a wart or whatever, so I have my doubts tbh.

What a joy to speak about Pope Leo XIV on @cnn.com's The Lead with @jaketapper.bsky.social this evening! Jake surprised me by adding a wonderful plug for my book Father Ed: The Story of Bill W.'s Spiritual Sponsor. See the clip on my Dawn Patrol blog: dawneden.blogspot.com/2025/05/i-sp...

Curious about the legal test for sedition in Canada. This same premier made an unannounced trip to visit Donald Trump back in January.

Bruce Fanjoy says he achieved something unexpected in Monday's election — the defeat of a high-profile Conservative leader in his own riding — simply by showing up on doorsteps and paying attention to what voters in Carleton were telling him.

I keep hearing people refer to JD Vance as a serious Catholic (Ezra Klein was the latest). Sorry, no. He opposes pretty much the entirety of Catholic social teaching and has fully bought into the Nietzschean logic of Trumpism.

REPORTER: Amazon will soon display a number next to the price of each product that shows how much the Trump tariffs are adding. Isn't that a perfect demonstration that it's the American consumer who is paying for these policies? LEAVITT: This is a hostile and political act by Amazon.

Looks like Musk is boosting all Conservative tweets and downgrading Liberal ones for the Canadian election. Not even trying to hide it.

My heart breaks for everyone affected by yesterday's tragedy in Vancouver.

I see it. I have lived it. 83 years ago, the U.S. government turned upon a group of its own citizens and residents and sent them to internment camps without due process. I was there among them. American fascism is back. It is here. It is now.

I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.

I'm #grateful that, nine days since my @loyolapress.bsky.social webinar on my book on the Sacred Heart was posted to YouTube, it has 920 views (in addition to the 400 who watched it live). Could you share this to bring it over 1,000 views as we enter into Holy Week? www.youtube.com/watch?v=da5g...

Navarro boasts, "We did have the greatest rally in stock market history for many, many decades this last week." The Trump administration, having caused the biggest self-made market plunge in a century, now brags that the damage is reduced by half. Never have manifest idiots been so self-confident.

Louis Twomey, a Southern Jesuit priest during Jim Crow, is largely unheralded for his efforts in the Civil Rights Movement, which has been seen as devoid of major Catholics. Dawn Eden Goldstein shares an interview from her book that will tell his story. https://buff.ly/4dalcfX

Wage growth since 1979 has definitely been suppressed, but EPI has decided to stop describing the entire post-1979 period as one of “wage stagnation.” #EconSky @elisegould.bsky.social and @joshbivens-econ.bsky.social explain our reasoning: www.epi.org/blog/wage-gr...

A truly bold remake of THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER would have a modern U.S. ship seeking asylum from a European power to avoid being forced to start a nuclear war at the request of a mad-king president

I cannot overstate the importance of reading books, particularly novels by respected authors, for critical thinking skills and reading comprehension. If the big gun novelists don't interest you, start small and work your way up. Or read whatever interests you. Just read. Or listen. It's all books.

In honour of Hayao Miyazaki I've implemented the biggest update to the GenAI mute/block list in a few months. Clear your feed. Let me know of any missed accounts and any false positive I might have swept up. I'm not perfect and happy to review mistakes. bsky.app/profile/eidy...

60 Minutes could find no criminal records for 75% of the Venezuelans the U.S. sent to a notorious mega-prison in El Salvador. https://cbsn.ws/4clubLP

There's a strange belief on the right that manufacturing jobs are the holy grail of working-class jobs. When, in reality, generations of factory workers worked hard to send kids to college so they didn't have to work on the line. They didn't want their families to work on the line forever.

WATCH: “Ron Vara is an anagram of Navarro.” @maddow.msnbc.com explains how Trump’s tariffs policy came from his economic advisor Peter Navarro, who invented a fake expert in his books to justify it🤦🏻‍♂️ 🤦🏼 And now markets are crashing 🎪 #TrumpTradeWar #AmericanBrexit
