Alexandrian, super nerdy about housing, transit, policy and publishing. I work in none of those fields.

Do a lot of people visit the chiropractor in the Great Lakes region?

We’re trying to get a Working Families Party branch going in Virginia, to press for more policies to support the working class AND to push the Dems toward more progressive candidates. Welcome Gathering is on the 26th! workingfamilies.org/get-active/

Aside from doctor-advised treatment, I started taking magnesium glycinate (vs magnesium citrate) and it helps with sleep!

Single payer would mean that insurance billing staff could be replaced with additional medical professionals, I like that budgeting option better.

Comments make a good point (I can’t believe I’m saying that) that the article should include the council vote tally and who recused.

Spaghetti bowl of danger is my favorite description of that mega-intersection.

I’ve been considering for a long while that romance, urban fantasy, and other related genres need a dedicated wiki. (We need also need a place to keep track of all the Knoxes and Jaxes and Cades.)

The littles are often there and Ben Brenman, but our games are at Jefferson Houston this year. They need more space so the games are later too!

I kind of think we need more parks… despite having a lot of parks! I heard you know someone?

On the football fields, though, right? The ones on the other side near the driveway are for other sports?

I know we do soccer on the other fields, do they do that on this side too? Was thinking baseball/softball.

I see a lot of kid baseball (?) practicing there after school hours. But I’m not there all the time so it might be observer bias!

This would be more concerning if we were Atlanta, tbf.

Why is some guy from California renaming our local park?

Interesting! Those books are so long, too. I’m glad the younger one doesn’t have interest in stories about humans yet! The Warrior cat series go on forever.

Mine gave up after about 5-6 books due to the lack of character development. Have you run into that? Haven’t read this series but I’ve gotten through 13 Wings of Fire books!

I think this is also how our brains develop over time. When we hit puberty, we feel giant spotlights hit us and think everyone is watching what we do and say. As we age we usually learn that people are so wrapped up in their own heads that they aren’t thinking of us at all. It’s freeing!

It seems like we also have overly helpful drivers that stop at intersections without stop signs and at random crosswalks which is nice, but absolutely not safe.

Make eye contact and charge confidently into the crosswalk! While also prepping to dodge a car if they don’t stop…

It would help if everyone had to take a written driving test with every license renewal. People don’t seem aware of how to act while driving

Does the commission only cover the physical parks or do you all liaise with the Rec Centers, too? Should we show up to cheerlead the rec center staff?

How awesome are our kids?!

I lived in 3 boroughs in NYC and access to these things isn’t the same for everyone. My cost of living there was lower sans kids - no car, lower utility bills, even rent was okay, but my wages stagnated. I prefer Alexandria. (Also our local govt is the best.)
