Another option for people in "high tax states" is to stop donating to "low tax states" they've been supporting with their federal taxes for decades.

There's an increasingly compelling case to be made that the US may make sense as an EU-style trade zone, but not as an actual nation with a powerful collective government. Each arbitrary & capricious application or with holding of collective resources strengthens that case.

I submit that this represents an assault on national identity that, if it intensifies, and if combined with attacks on other collective-benefit aspects of federalism, will remove enough of the incentives to federalize that big chunks of the country will seriously consider opting out.

All you gotta do is sever people from history with an endless stream of meme videos and "reality" bickering.

Also, "quell." JFC. Become conversant with the English language. They haven't been "quelled;" they're spreading. But they've certainly been "attacked." They've certainly been "assaulted."

You complete douches, "using it to quell protests" is a complete violation of the oath of office, the first amendment, and both civilian and military traditions. Tuck your hard-on away and try to see straight.

You *sure* what he's working with is capitalism, strictly speaking? In canonical capitalism, the markets are relatively free and rational, with regulators there to ensure fairness and transparency. In his version, markets are irrationally and opaquely weighted by the regulators' personal interest.

I (and others) have been saying for 2 months now that the outlets doing some of the most plain no-bullshit coverage — including news-breaking and deep reporting — of this administration are, ironically, tech sites like @wired.com and @theverge.com

The obvious way to lede this story if you're standing, as the press should be, *outside* the oval office, is as a deluded crusade of self aggrandisement and graft that's sown political chaos and economic pain, blatantly violated US law, and flashed a giant "fuck you" to the electorate.
