Agreed. I think our Achilles is still these games we 'should' be winning-especially away. If Man City had been on form I think we'd have beaten them.

Bosko!

It is absolute BS. Pundits want the ref to be consistent but at the same time they want the ref to ignore the rules. I don't believe the rules state anything about letting the game flow - or how early in the game it is - or how many fouls he's made - or ruining it for the neutral.

Newcastle have been rampant and Isaak is the best striker in the league IMO. Was very worried about this game. The last team I'd want to be playing considering we often have a CL hangover. A real statement win and should have scored more. Onana was a beast when he came on-and a beauty of a goal!

Emery is working with a 600 million squad - up against PSG with a 3 billion squad. Context.
comment in response to post
Most wins by any team in their first CL season apparently!
comment in response to post
Tonight's one took a deflection so it's ruled out of the greatest ever list. That Sheff Wed goal deserved this stage though.

Totally agree! Fans who are down should be reminded that we have a squad value of 600m. PSG has a squad value of 3b. There's a reason teams outside the revenue 6 are up against it. Emery is working with less resources than our competitors and has us competing on 3 fronts. We should be proud.
comment in response to post
Agreed. We're taking on a 3b pound squad with a 600m squad. That gulf was going to show itself at some point.

Our league is driven by TV-not a love for the sport.
comment in response to post
Totally agree. The EPL only moves games with TV advertising in mind. No consideration for any aspect of the sport.
comment in response to post
Agreed 100% but my worry is that I think a lot of fans won't see it this way unless we win something. There's still a huge gap in squad value and this is so often overlooked.
comment in response to post
So pleased for those who went! There hasn't been a comfortable victory all season.
comment in response to post
If I got that feeling, I wouldn't be following - so please keep Reecing. Or Dinsdaling - either is fine.
comment in response to post
I read that he can. Same as Illing-Jr playing against us for Juventus I think.
comment in response to post
I think we do better against sides who are expected to beat us. We are poorer against sides we 'should' be beating.

I hope you're right but I still worry about the definition of failure for some this season. There's a reason why lower revenue teams can't sustain CL football. We can't compare ourselves to regular CL clubs. Maybe when the revenue creeps up...
comment in response to post
Agreed but it means nothing if they don't score. Liverpool were totally outplayed and came away with a win-because of a world class keeper and we've got one of those.
comment in response to post
No doubt we miss Pau but Mings gives us that first head to the ball for crosses that we need.

Good point. It was awful last night but I dread people reaching for the cabbages if we don't match last season. Bridging the revenue gap is going to take a long term project and patience is needed. Some steps forward and some steps back for now.
comment in response to post
I thought we knew that this season was going to be difficult. We're trying to do something that hasn't been done before. Breaking the revenue barrier is going to take time and we have no evidence that it's even possible. It was bound to take a toll even if we stayed injury free.

Weah really overrated. His cousin was the talent in the family.

Bogarde was at fault here. If he'd dropped to the floor clutching his face (for these issues, it doesn't seem to matter if the face is anywhere near the contact) it would have been looked at.
comment in response to post
Only thing I'd argue is that Rogers had a better chance to win it.
comment in response to post
He's realizing that he's actually going to have to do some work to win the title. He thought he could just sit back and say "do what Klopp said" and take the plaudits. Gets a bit lippy under pressure-not a great look...

Bellendius Maximus.

I think our problem is facing teams who try to stop our system. Liverpool/Man City/Arsenal just implement their system-because it's usually better than most other systems-so they don't really worry about stopping ours. And that is why we'll win the CL.
comment in response to post
Got him right in the compass-I meant of course.
comment in response to post
By the looks of that back pass it for him right in the compass.
comment in response to post
It astounds me that refs still fall for that crap. "He went down clutching his face so you must have done something". It's just too easy to get a player booked. Integrity on the pitch gets you nowhere.
comment in response to post
Does that really say Bill Cosby under additional? How does that guy get bookings in 2025?
comment in response to post
The rational response would be about small margins etc etc but we've been paying for poor chance conversion all season.
comment in response to post
Were those his first touches v Chelsea? If so I stand corrected.
comment in response to post
I don't believe there's ever been a nicer first few touches in a Villa shirt...
comment in response to post
Would have loved for him to square to Asensio on his last 1 on 1. That would have been a lovely team goal.
comment in response to post
Totally agree.

Duran wasn't getting games for us so it's not always an accurate measure.
comment in response to post
Was just about to write something on the same lines! Good work! I'm sure you're working on other deals before the window closes.
comment in response to post
With their experience, I doubt that it's naivety or negligence. If we don't agree with what they're doing, the odds are it's because we just don't understand the full picture.
comment in response to post
Regarding a CB. Emery knows football better than us. He's not incompetent. If we were desperate for a CB in his eyes, he would have found one and certainly wouldn't have allowed Swinkels on loan. We had defensive issues even with our full back 4 so maybe Emery feels that the issues are elsewhere.
comment in response to post
Players who are obvious targets-playing regularly-are out of our price range and will not choose us over other teams who want them. We have to take gambles.
comment in response to post
So commenting on a social media post is evidence of being riled up? Clutching again...
comment in response to post
So buying and selling players amounts to money laundering? I think every team in the league is doing that. I think you're referring to the fair market value argument but there's no official record of player values so that point is just clutching.
comment in response to post
Unavailable this window. Maybe try again for her in the summer...

Just another one of those things that will be looked back on when people claim they didn't see the signs. The plan they have-in my opinion-is to ethnically (and ethically) cleanse America state by state until a civil war ensues. This should be a ridiculous idea but we're talking about true evil.

He didn't look out of place at all. Impressive!

Kamara but Bogarde rose to the occasion and then some!
