Former NWS met, currently involved in state air quality work (who knows for how long). Read the same cyberpunk novels the tech bros did. Reached different conclusions.

I'll give him credit for this. If I were that far gone I would be hospitalized. I don't know how he can stand, and, let's call it communicate. There's some truly malevolent force at work within that guy.

Any good articles out there detailing the pros and cons of a regime change? Obviously this has gone disastrously in the past. And I certainly don't want American troops on the ground. But if the government pulled a cut and run, what are the odds that the country holds together w/new leaders?

Hell yeah! If we were a horizontally organized anarchical collective... well, we'd probably still do it on the weekend.

All good points. And I do hope we get to hear the audio soon. I always appreciate your being level-headed and putting facts before feelings.

Just part of flooding the zone with conflicting messages and BS. Means nothing. Throws a little sand in the reactionary gears for a few hours.

Here's another angle from Fox News reporter Bill Melugin of Sen. Alex Padilla getting roughed up by law enforcement after he tries to question Kristi Noem at her presser:
“I’m Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary. Because the fact of the matter is, a half dozen... Hands off!”

Nothing's funny anymore. But it would be a little funny if he turned out to be an actual lizard person.

It's crazy. BlackRock denies it and has walked back some of its climate commitments. But ugh, the power of the fossil fuel lobby in Texas.

Yes! A favorite of mine. Probably worth a reread in and of itself. Btw, and apropos of nothing, an indy songwriter named Erin McKeown has a great (to me), popish song about the 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair called "White City" on her We Will Become Like Birds album.

The deal is, folks won't be able to navigate the arcane paperwork requirements, right? Just want to make sure I don't lose the thread.

Is that worth reading? Anyone? I have enjoyed many of his novels. But at the same time, I feel like I have a pretty good idea of why we live on different information planets these days (sigh, maybe lefties can colonize the moon like in The Dispossessed)

Strong and powerful "we've always been at war with Eastasia" energy. Sigh...

“The grid operator hadn’t asked for this, the utility hadn’t asked for this, we as the state hadn’t asked for this,” said Dan Scripps, chair of the Michigan Public Service Commission. “We certainly didn’t have any conversations with the (Energy Department) in advance of the order, or since.”
