OK, but TBF, thereās a cottage industry and a big part of the CT/Middle East-focused interagency that has been warning since the fall of Raqqa about āan imminent ISIS resurgence,ā usually to beg for more $ or to avoid difficult policy decisions. At some point it gets hard to take them seriously.

Al Kut was my only Iraq deployment (vs 6 in Afghanistan), I was only there 2 1/2 months, and ended up getting dysentery 2/3rds of the way through. I actually had my replacement come out early because I felt I was NMC. Absolutely zero good memories of that place.
