I just see the cord theft here and know there is a better solution.

The founder is in a city where it snows and he talks about designing the system to work with snow. Starts just after the 3 minute mark: youtu.be/GIIDnjnRNaE?...

I was on a call with staff from Copenhagen this morning. Part of their presentation covered the new ring road tunnel and sections they are building, because "the existing ring road is congested". I was hoping to see more from them.

Great article, thanks for sharing. Churchill Falls has occupied part of my psyche as long as I can remember. My father, brother and I fished for salmon on both gull island & Muskrat falls. Higgins line in St.johns is named for my great uncle who negotiated (on a team) the Labrador border.

Would be nice if Canada drops the massive tariffs on BYD if they agree to build a factory in Canada. It would help adoption greatly. I test drove a BYD seagull in Costa Rica last year, incredible machine for $10,000.

The new HiSense air to water dumps heat to the dhw tank when in cooling mode.

A local company is doing something like this in two single family retrofits. Using R290 mono block heat pumps and phase change material. Case study by fall I hope. Replacing a gas boiler for heating and hot water on an existing 100a service.

Hopefully hopefully they have self-driving.

This is great Dr. Lem! Do you think we could ever see doctors prescribing cooling at home? I wonder if it could help overcome barriers for people installing AC or a heat pump at home.

We have North Americas largest DLT factory here in the Vancouver area. Structure craft currently has projects on 5 continents, many right here in British Columbia. www.instagram.com/structurecra...

In the book they do talk about isolated cases which have turned out well. The challenge the book highlights is broadly there's no real regulation and as a result, much of the work is more of a strip mining operation. Extracting fees without relevant expertise..

I would be hard pressed to point to an industry where private equity has improved the product or service. "Plunder" is a great book on the topic.

Vancouver made the shift in the past 2 years. For new multi family development (Multiplex and larger which is 3-8 homes) trees can be removed with one replanted when lots are redeveloped. It along with some other changes (lowering the density for new single fam) have spurred development.

Have you found a hot water tank that can do that? My Rheem heat pump hot water heater is supposed to be able to do it, but no luck so far.

If you think BIXI is good, just wait till you try Canadian Healthcare! :)
Kidding aside, BIXI is incredible. Early support by the City and a dedication to safe separated infrastructure made it so successful. Bike over to "St-Viateur Bagel" and "Fairmount Bagel" to tell us which is your fave!

Nice. I suggest following up on it soon as you can. Now that the new process is set up, I am moving away from helping on each project. Three months from now I will be on to focus on higher voltage and larger services.

Cool, a decent chunk are going underground with an overhead transformer. Still a good outcome, if not the lowest cost option. Congrats on the shift!

How is your electrical servicing application coming along?

The other way to look at it, is the City treats public space allocation carefully. Staff take a very long term view.

I'm trying something like that in a neighborhood where the electrical service is already fully underground. It's surprisingly difficult. Largely because the transformer goes in public space and there's lots of plans for bike, bus and enhanced sidewalks. Regardless, I'm trying.

My understanding is it just depends if you put in load management or not. That's the only thing that varies how it's modeled in terms of how you calculate the electrical service.

I'll ask staff if the information is public yet.

We are working with a Canadian curbside charging solution. That said, if you want to bring this one, I bet I could make a path where it would be accepted and allowed.

Doug we can fix all these problems when California becomes Canada's 11th Province. ;)

The moose meat likely went to the food bank. Newfoundland is the only province that allows game meat in restaurants, grocery stores and food banks.

Costco brings in Birks once a year. One colour and one style. Makes it easy. That said I have 4 different types at home because they are so comfortable.

Traveling, largely I have been able to find good hotels with good (often free) charging. Banff feels like a bit of a captive audience as it is a destination town in a national park. 120v to the rescue!
