There are some with technicalities - like MechAssault, which keeps getting overshadowed by Metal Wolf Chaos because "it's the same type of game but WAY more over-the-top" - but I didn't feel like including those

I wouldn't say I was a hater of it initially, I just personally wasn't too big on games from the era it was paying homage to... But Pilot Quest was enough to convince me to check out the rest of the collection. If not because it's good, then because of the downtime the real-time clock generates, lol

I love the mentality of "smaller tech = cooler tech" Japan had going for it. I feel like the general gaming public of today needs that sort of thinking in a world of giant PC towers and bulky GPUs

If it wasn't for the first half of the game being a slog I would give that title to Quake 4. Also maybe RAGE, but I think I'm too Borderlands-obsessed to make a clear call on that

Turns out the author of Kinetic Worm Dimension, a fast paced "3D" implementation of Snake, still had a backup of the original 1999 DOS version of the game. It was previously unpreserved on the Internet, so he decided to share it. Download here: archive.org/details/kine... bsky.app/profile/dosn...

The title theme sounds kinda off-key, the main hub music feels eerily quiet, and the graphics are just ever-so-slightly creepy compared to the cartoon tone it's going for. Everything is darkly shaded and some of the models are just... eughhh. Can't stand looking at Cortex

Granted I don't think I was ever truly going back after seeing uncensored slurs in usernames within the first few months of the first game. Community turned rancid fast

Does the one where the indie dev messaged Christopher Walken about voicing some lines and by some miracle he actually did it count
