2025 has entirely abandoned the concept of subtlety.

A wake is a party you are forced to throw under the worst circumstances.

Notice how all this desire to combat fraud in Medicare and Medicaid involves kicking people off of it, and nothing is being done to prevent the scammers from calling people on it constantly to harvest their information and file fraudulent claims? I'm at my mother's and the scam calls are constant.

They really aggressively try to fleece you at the airport these days, don’t they?

This is stupid. How is this sustainable as a business?

We had a great session of D&D, all of it was downtime activities. I’m using the bastion systems combined with the downtime they used in Fantasy High Junior Year. The party solved a number of problems they faced in the short term, and got info on some questions that plagued them in the long term.

Saw that Palmer Luckey interview. What a performative cosplayer he is. As someone who writes over-the-top villains for a living, I have to say that this guy is trying too hard make his supervillain fantasies a reality.

Only reposting to remember the Unicode symbol for later.

The new Neil Halloran documentary on Smallpox has completely changed how I see the RFK Jr. version of the world. Neil (softly) argues that realizing that disease isn't the fault of the sick /or/ the fault of the Gods ushered in a new future where we felt the authority to care for each other.

Odd for a 1700s nursery rhyme to be so applicable, but this is the world we live in.

Let's talk about these two department store owners: brother and sister Louis Bamberger and Caroline Bamberger Fuld. From Newark, New Jersey. They are random people, basically. But in the late 1920s, with fascism taking over Europe, they made a choice that profoundly changed the world: 🧵

What George Lucas got right about the original trilogy, but has never managed to replicate since, is that I was a little kid when those came out

The lake is having some very interesting moonlight reflections tonight.

Deep (deep, deep, deep, simplified, quick version) dive into the new Pope's first sermon. As an ex-catholic I find this fascinating from viewing from the outside.

Anecdotal, but there sure seems to be a line of container ships sitting around the bay doing nothing. No trade going or out. I’m no economist, but that seems like it sucks.

did they just pick the guy most easily able to yell at JD Vance

Not to be too pro technocrat, but it is astounding how much this country depended on the selflessness of like a few hundred thousand highly educated public servants who, for peanuts, made sure our food and medicine and environment etc were safe. And in return these servants were demonized.

Satisfying.

Gooseyanki crèche.

Was having a discussion about dangerous weather and government funded services and someone used this Sim City advisor as a reference. More people need to be yelled at by this advisor and see the consequences of their actions.

Every day I am reminded that I, with my theater degree, and my job writing about monsters, seem to know more about international trade than the president of the United States. Why must we be in this stupid and cruel timeline?

The thing Zuckerberg doesn’t tell us about having AI friends is sometimes your AI friends think you're actually Spirit Folk and try to banish you.

1500% tariffs on all macrodata refined on the severed floor, jesus christ

What was the doll argument that Trump lost decades ago that he is implementing bread lines now to prove his point? Why must we suffer for his bruised ego?

From Mad Mage to Yoga Warlock.

I can't express how strange it is that since BG3 so many people now have some passing knowledge of githyanki/illithid conflict. Twelve year old me spending far too much time reading the Fiend Folio would be amazed.

Is it weird that we made a small Easter dinner solely so we could make leftovers nachos, our favorite meal?

You all need to treat Harry Potter IP like we’re treating the Tesla brand.

Does RFK actually understand the thing he's breaking our healthcare, and will cause untold preventable suffering and death to wrongly and without evidence, prevent? It feels like his understanding of autism is what you get when watching bad films that have stereotypical characters.

Compliment of the day, "Your service to toxic yuri cannot go unnoticed Nick." I'll take that recognition, just doing my part.

I dunno what this will accomplish other than get me on a list.

Talking to my mathematician son about some meme I sent him and I learn that whenever pi shows up, it’s because there’s a circle being used somewhere in the analysis. A circle is a virus that injects pi into the calculation.
