Seriously, the amount of disdain I have for Generative AI is amazing. At my last job I eventually drew a line and said I won’t use AI to create courses. Including the course I made that was an intro to AI. The only exception I made was I used Copilot to write my resignation letter.

Police have blocked 91st Street from 121 to 122 street. It looks like someone had a very bad day.

Alberta, share this with everyone. The UCPs decision to limit covid vaccines by making people pay for them is not good public health policy, ethical or founded in scientific evidence. They should be encouraging widespread vaccination across populations and covering it.

"We can handle one 10,000-person protest, but ten 1000-person protests throughout the city will overwhelm us." -LAPD Chief Michel Moore in response to the 2020 uprising Decentralization is key. Elon Musk personally banned our Twitter account in 2022, but this post remains good advice today.

Well, I quit my job on Thursday. What a relief to be out of that place. I have a new job lined up for the end of the month. It will be better because it is hard to be worse than that place.

Hey gang, take it from a comms professional: THE TIME TO PUBLISH THAT BAD NEWS IS NOW NOW NOW

I'll never get over how the best line in all of noir – "I've got eight slugs in me. One's lead, and the rest are bourbon" – doesn't come from Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett, but Calvin and Hobbes

I am so tired of tech hype. Every year it is the same thing, “this new tech will save us.” Whether it is Carbon Capture (won’t work, can’t work), AI, Blockchain, VR, or IoT. It’s all just tech hype designed to drive up consumption. #TechWontSaveUs

Jonathan Joss was Comanche and Apache and an openly gay actor. He was murdered while looking at the remains of his dogs at his own house that was burnt down. The killer yelled homophobic slurs before shooting him. This is the real world consequences of the hatred that the right commodifies

Jonathan Joss--voice actor of John Redcorn from King of the Hill, and Ken Hotate from Parks and Rec--was killed in a homophobic hate crime today. I'm so angry.

The irony of ISPs being sured for copyright while the largest theft of IP in the history of humanity is ongoing is just a bit much for me to digest on this Monday.

June is Indigenous History Month in Canada, and I'd like to recommend to anyone I know who hasn't ever taken Indigenous Canada to register today and start the free class today. It's an Indigenous centred history course and frankly, will be world changing for you. www.coursera.org/learn/indige...

EFRS is on scene of a residential structure fire near 95ST & 115AVE. The nearby library has apparently been evacuated due to the smoke. #yeg #yegfire

After spending weeks attacking Mark Carney's former company, it is now revealed that *SEVEN* Conservative MPs held stock in that company - including Poilievre and his Deputy Leader, Melissa Lantsman.

You say you're curious about AI "reasoning" models and why we should put that term in air quotes? You want to learn about "derivational traces" in LLMs? And you'd like to know what this implies for AI in education? Good news: @rao2z.bsky.social's terrific new paper is for you! THREAD

I’m thinking that we should start a guerrilla campaign. We give the books to kids and after they have read them they surreptitiously put the books on their school library shelves. Just quietly adding to the books to the library.

It’s worth a reminder that the same people who claim schools have sexually explicit books in their libraries once told us the same schools have litter boxes for kids who “identify as cats.” These people lie. A lot. #ableg #abpoli

They've released the list of "offensive books" and of course every single one has queer themes. These ghouls are as predictable as they are gross.

“Without widespread theft, my industry can’t survive” is an argument against your industry surviving, and is not an argument for allowing widespread theft

They're coming for the books y'all. Fucking fascists.

Little known fact: it got its boost in power by harnessing the energy of wasted potential and whining of Alberta separatists.

An update on Canadians who were part of the delegation in West Bank

Yuuuuuup. Ideas have never been the issue. The key is picking which ones are worth writing about, and which are worth writing will change with the specific author. I wrote a whole fucking novel about the moon turning to cheese. I assure you, ideas are the easy part. Execution is what matters.
