I've been wondering about this - knowing how much each use costs, would a lot of people pushing it towards the edge faster be a net positive? Or would it just give him more ammunition for his 'weekly user' stats and set more of the earth on fire?

The Episcopal Church has been celebrating Pride for years - no surprise here.

It's not a Catholic church.

Absolutely. That's very clear in the aftermath of an election when people are trying to make sense of how and why things happened. And it's hard because, "Soooo many things" isn't a very satisfying answer.

Just turned off NPR so I don't have to listen to it. Gross, Terri!

Do you think Dakota is a state? Also, plenty of ppl are to blame for DT - more individuals in 'blue' states voted for/contributed to his rise than all of the people in SD who voted for him. My county didn't vote for him. Lots of brave folks here have been protesting and will be Saturday. Will you?

The idea that a friend is just a receptacle for your main character thoughts & worries is so warped. I like my friends because of who THEY are. They support me & keep me company, but I do the same and that also benefits me. A bot with no history, quirks or insight from actual life is a mockery.

If you've got skills and good equipment, sure. Norm Abrams can build a good bookshelf quickly and with repurposed wood from an old house, but I'd need some significant time and resources to get there.

Right now, many thrift stores are clogged with fast fashion that disintegrates quickly and is made with very difficult to work with knits and artificial fabrics. Reusing/repurposing these kinds of garments is not easy. Maybe they could be melted into new shapes? 😅

I am constantly getting them mixed up and she sure isn't providing more clarity.

It sounds like maybe there was some resistance to a succession plan. :/ Very thankful to the independent clinics who are stepping up to expand late term care.

My very red state used to be much more purple until the DCCC and progressive orgs decided to completely divest from anywhere that wasn't a "swing state". My county votes blue, our reservation counties vote blue, but so many people would rather condemn than help us organize. Resources matter!

Yep - in the last 15 years it's become one of our biggest industries. Like the Caymans, but cold and vast.

I'm pro-appendectomy. I'm pro-root canal. I'm pro-abortion. I'm pro-the procedures people need when they need them. Language matters and overly cautious language played a part in the fall of Roe.

For all of our sakes, I hope not doing something earlier is not a bar to doing something now.

Excitement isn't a finite substance. There's plenty to go around. Why are you creating division where there doesn't need to be? They're all working towards the same ends. It's not going to be just one thing or one person.

Many of us live in places that those big rallies will never happen. But all of these things *cumulatively* help. I bet you're not putting asses in seats either, but I hope you're doing SOMETHING. We can't all do the same thing - just try something! And don't shit on other people's something!

I used to work for a Democratic congresswoman at a time that all of our federal reps were Ds. Then the DCCC and progressive groups decided to completely pull resources from 'red' states. So of course they got redder.

Wow, these comments really prove the point. My small community in South Dakota didn't vote Trump; I'm 4th generation and I've never had to deal with MAGA talk at family Thanksgivings - but you can bet when people hear where I'm from, they make a lot of assumptions about people they don't know.

A person acting in good faith might just do some research, but that doesn't seem to be the mood around here. For others who genuinely care about those on the financial edge, this is a great resource to understand what it takes to get by in your community: livingwage.mit.edu

That is definitely not how anyone defines "paycheck to paycheck." It means they can't afford costs of living with their income. It might vary b/c of location, student debt, family size, etc. But not picking up tabs because that's never been a thing large numbers of people are poor because of.

I'm going to assume you're not engaging in good faith here, which is too bad since that's what we could actually use. 🤷

The question of the thread is who bears responsibly right now. And there's clearly something f'd up about saying, "why isn't [fill in famous black person] doing more" when it's white people who shit the bed. Our continuing refusal to take ownership IS THE ISSUE.

The ACA has provided insurance for my family for a decade. I work for a small nonprofit and there's no way me or my staff would have insurance without it. I was interviewed in a large paper when it was in front of SCOTUS, and so many people approached me after and told me the ACA saved their lives.
