Blue-sky thinking, but hoping to remain grounded. Not so new here any longer, but still surprisingly ignorant.

Well they certainly seem to have a lot of out-of-date equipment. 😀 And as for learning to march in step.. 😱

"’Tis well that virtue gives nobility, How shall we else the want of birth and blood supply? Since scarce one family is left alive, Which does not from some foreigner derive." That was Daniel Defoe, sagely writing in 1701. Plus ça change.

Martin Luther King, Jr. "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character." There really isn't much more that needs to be said.

Compare and contrast. I think that is allowed, (though with the emphasis on contrast.)

Any particular Friday? Or (more likely, like the pub bore) every Friday.

She almost convinced me about the seasons, but then I thought again about their order.

It doesn't quitecwork like that, we seem to be getting the benefit of you. 👍

Not sure about that. It looks like most people in the US have heard so much disinformation that they no longer know which way is up.

It is in order to test whether he'll wear a suit or not.

You are quite right: reflection on the part of the author is not to be encouraged - even on Blue-sky.

Health and Safety might suggest that you block everybody just before you start posting? It would also negate the risk of creating an echo-chamber.

No need to worry about this. Doubtlesslly, he'll change his mind on the way to the showroom.

@explaintrade.com has a fine record both of serious commentary and flippancy on Blue-sky. The key is for the rest of us to distinguish which is which.

I suspect sarcasm might be a felony on social media, but it is usually very difficult to detect. (I'm with you on this).

It is impressive to observe its self sacrifice.

It's that time of year again. My brother took his (well, actually his daughter's) tortoise out of the fridge last Sunday. He had to bath her twice a day until she (the tortoise) "performed". Happily, she did that on Friday.

I should imagine that it is still recovering from Brexit.

What are all these cards that Russia supposedly has? I'd love to hear.

Thanks for responding. 👍

The country (and government) was in the midst of a "Brexit breakdown" when they elected him. Without therapy, it has taken years to move towards a place where it/they/we may start to perceive reality and respond rationally.

My thoughts on this? ...not very consequential: I wish you'd not print white on black when there is so much to read. I (personally, as obviously I can't speak for others) find it very difficult to read.

Is he saying that a Nazi salute would not be so far right?

I guess he must be talking about the European Research Group who did their damndest to scupper and proposal.

That's a pretty good model of the cyber truck. Almost as sturdy as the real thing I would guess.

Now is the time for hugging! 😀

Just so long as the US doesn't start actively helping Russia.

The Trump/Zelensky exchange is also truly appalling for those who thought they were not involved - for those of us watching from the comfort (and wondering if it might continue to exist) of our homes in the UK.

So four out of five voters rejected them. The press do know that even Vladimir Putin failed to get 80% of the vote in four of the five presidential elections he has stood in?

On social media everything is black/white, extreme/zero; nonetheless, the effect of AI is real, and significant. And governments need to take notice of this.

Europe could always attack the US of A through Greenland. 🤪

It's fine with me that Johnson has said this. After all, it takes one to know one. Johnson must have a greater insight into the mind of a lying politician than almost anyone in England. I'm not sure, however, that I have much confidence in how he reports it.
comment in response to post
Only Boris Johnson could write that with any authenticity.

One reason Putin invaded in 2022 was that he believed the slur that Zelensky was just a comedian. He quickly discovered the Ukrainians actually had a brave, inspiring leader. The planned 2-3 day walkover turned to a rout as the Ukrainians showed their mettle. Never underestimate them - or him.

He's an intelligent man. (Never underestimate others). I'm sure that what he said was about more than 100k likes - or is he really imprisoned inside the American cultural echo-chamber?

I'd like to think that the message on the other side of his shirt was "Genes don't matter". But somehow, I doubt it.

One of the least surprising, and most predictable facts I've seen for a long time.

It's a pity, I don't want to spoil the fun, but the spelling is just a result of autocorrect. (At least that is how my autocorrect works).

That's too many dimensions to get one's head around. It is impressive.

He's right. They could have missed each other, but they didn't. I'm glad he cleared that up for us, presidentially.

A flag AND a blue tick. It would be kind of confusing if s/he didn't say something like that.

So that's quite an impressive balancing act then.

1 "The extreme transparency of Trump's approach" - yeah, right. This side of the pond we only hear clichés spoken for the masses. 2 As for the "political theatre": thank goodness we have a PM not a president. HoC is the theatre. Johnson tried a few theatrical populist stunts, but deservedly failed.

1384 days to the next presidential election. It's tempting to make a countdown calendar.

I notice that they pick out 'trans" children in their headline. That fits their message. But the bishop actually spoke about a far wider group of people who would be scared by his policies.

But did he mention Greenland?
