i totally agree. a striker who likes the channels and threatens the space in behind could open the space for jude in that 10 area. maybe someone like watkins

thus cluttering up the central area (compounded by lacking overlaping full backs) further strengthens that for me.

look, mate, we could go back and forth with this, ulitimately i dont know what the fuck im talking about. i just watch. i think the case for jb as a 6 to "raise the celing, not the floor" is compeling. and england having won fuck all despite having superstars (many who like to be in that 10 area)/

the way i read the article, it makes a very good case for that not being his best contribution to the england team. the point alex made about how too many england players prefer to operate in the central attacking area, was excellent, icym

that. was fucking brilliant! you should write more!
one question though:
this, when explained like you have, provides an (imo) evident context for englands decades long struggle to get more out of outstanding talent. the q is, the national team coaches and analyst must be aware of this (skew right)?

redknapp also, but feel free to cherrypick whatever suits your argument. when you say stuff like that ppl wont take your seriously, and im begining to wonder if that is your goal. i think im done here. you have an agenda so good luck to you and your crystal ball

except its not true that managers are judged on leagues. now youre just making stuff up to suit a narrative. if that was the case emery for instance, would be nowhere near the villa job.
comment in response to
post
poch raised his profile quite a bit from his spurs days, tbf. even redknapp did. after that we started taking chances with jose and conte. its more mixed than i think you care to admit. but i dont envy any spurs manager, the job isnt exactly calming
comment in response to
post
i.e should he do really well (win some cups and challenge in the league) he would rocket into the higher echelons of status (i.e "he did what conte and jose couldnt). as a spurs fan im hopeful, but i can see how other fans would see this as a gamble from frank, however much i focus on the upside
comment in response to

ange also lost 22 league games, but i see your point. as for unhealthy place; i get that. however i still maintain the majority of top level clubs in the prem (except for city) have varying degrees of toxicity when things dont go well. but the upside at spurs is bigger than almost all of the others
comment in response to
post
agreed, but bigger isnt safer though. safe would be not having any pressure (like brentford). idk if its true but heard (think it was jay harris or someone) frank was a serious contender for the liverpool job. still dont think frank is taking a risk as much as he is taking an opportunity
comment in response to
post
also as top level prem clubs are at the apex of the game, it stands to reason that managers invariably will fall short. idt that will be the case for frank, but thats just my opinion. only time will tell.
comment in response to
post
idk if i agree- irreparable would suggest he never got a job as a manager again. it could also point to the manager being found wanting (as was the case for AVB). id suggest there are many other clubs who are worse for managers than spurs. man utd springs to mind, much bigger graveyard than spurs
comment in response to
post
idk what that first sentence means. you ranked the league cup as more prestigious- i countered that argument with that list.
frank isnt taking a risk. name one manager who has had "irrerable damage" done to their career from being spurs manager?
comment in response to

in terms of chronology, he is.
comment in response to

there are two "perfectly set up" football clubs in the world- brentford and brighton- and whilst being great set ups, none of them are in any danger of winning or challenging for any major honours. also-win league cup= conference league, win conf=europa league, win europa league=champ league. clear?

it was your analogy. 8 ppl have died trying for everest this year alone, so regardless of job of hobby, they risk their lives for it. spurs maybe a hot seat but it doesnt kill you

I dont tbf. Didnt really get where this comes from. Tbc i didnt say you claimed it was luck. I was really tired this morning as my daughter decided 0400 was a good time to wakke up, regardless of daddy's sleep deprevation. Language and logic not at peak powers

Look mate, ive been team ange and "defended" against this take myself. But its two seasons and our injuries got worse than any other sqd in the prem. Ruined 1st season, obliterated s.2. I dont know what its down to. Im working out a rationale so i can deal with us sacking thw only manager to/
comment in response to
post
Ive read profs analysis. And i cant refute his findings. However, we have never had as many injuries at the same time as with ange over two consecutive seasons and imo it cant all be down to bad luck. But as i say, wallow or move on, and for me its move on
comment in response to
post
I still love ange but there where lots of signs this was untenable. Anyway, its done now and we are left with either wallowing or moving on. I chose moving on, but im more firmly levy out that ever before
comment in response to
post
I think its reductionist thinking to claim the manager is only to blame for hamstring injuries. I havent seen the "serious analysis" obsolving ange of two seasons marred by injuries. I have seen (close to) full strength spurs lose to ipswich at home and loads of other crap games./1
comment in response to

Easy out, Ben. I was gutted yesterday. Having the dust (and emotions) settle a bit, i can see that there are issues with anges tenure. Yes, it would be easier to accept had there been a stand-out replacement. But I can see the case for dissmissing him, and injuries are part of that
comment in response to
post
If you attribute the injuries we've had over the past two seasons to ange, you could make the case that ange made his bed. If it was just this season, its one thing but his whole tenure was awful in terms of injuries. Maybe some of it is bad luck, but it is his remit to keep players fit

at least theres that

i think you are spot on, hannah. not wishful thinking imo, would be weird to say "oh, btw the manager we have a contract with for next season is still working for us next season"

why are we doing this to ourselves? FI are as credible as Donald Trump. Its like hearing him talk: "many people are saying ange is getting sacked, im not sayin it, people are. maybe we should get frank WHEN ange is sacked, and then brentford can get KM. Thats what people are saying". ffs sick of it

mind you the only place ange is in danger of losing his job is in the media who are hellbent on making their own narratives true. he has 1 year (pluss another year option) left on his contract. in this case, silence (from the club) is golden
