Exactly. Perfect analogy.

The Mouth Of Sauron issues another perfect non-answer. This statement would be equally true if:
1) Iran produces a nuclear weapon tomorrow or
2) Has never tried to develop one
This is all a smoke screen to distract us from trump's huge domestic failings.

The solution is so absurdly simple:
1) Stop stealing money from the fund
2) Raise the cap on SS withholding

Absolutely right. No warrant, no uniform, not legal.

Allergic to decency and empathy, I guess.

Well, I was going to ignore this, but you did say "please" twice! I don't really have the time to fuck all the way off, but because you asked so nicely, I could maybe fuck about halfway off but then I need to fuck back on again and get over to Home Depot; this floor isn't gonna tile itself...

Part 2 of my reply (maybe raise the character limit, BlueSky?):
This not-quite-accurate-quote is inflammatory. Let the other side do this crap; we need to be loud, but we can't be disseminating falsities.

I can't find any credible evidence that Noem said this. She did say that the Nat Guard and Marines were going to stay in LA (illegally, I should add) to "liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country".

It ain't about the camera, it's about the eye and the ability to recognize an extraordinary image... but yes, the camera helps to capture that image. Well done!!

Don't forget the execrable Leonard Leo and the Heritage Society for getting tRump to appoint all the hyper-partisan judges and Justices.

Well, yeah! Because the Trump agenda is idiotic and mindlessly destructive and if taken to it's ultimate extension will destroy our Republic! But I guess you MAGAs are all ok with it as long as that's what the the Tangerine Tyrant wants?

How dare this loathsome fungus presume to say what 300 million people are or are not fed up with? Please, Ohio voters (especially Republicans), vote this oxygen thief out of office!!!

Interesting. I was taught that the American economy that won wars and sent men to the moon was based on humans working to the benefit of the society. You cannot build an economy, not a successful one anyway, on private investment and shafting consumers.

That must be one of the stupidest comments ever to come out of Kilmeade's stupid yap. "...your whole agenda is, I'm gay"? Obviously Kilmeade means he is too shallow to see past Buttigieg's utterly unimportant sexual orientation and recognize an incredibly intelligent and educated man.

Do these idiots all go to the same trump gaslighting school? How can any sentient being spout this kind of insane garbage without cracking up?

Apparently they only asked gop voters.

Excellent point!

It is important to recognize that congressional Dems can't do a whole lot to stop the depredations, other than make a lot of noise, as long as the gops control both chambers and refuse to work across the aisle. Legislative is not Judicial; it is the latter that must enforce our laws.

Millions of us wonder the very same thing, Armin.
comment in response to

Exactly! It's a political process, and the gops have shown they don't give a rat's ass what he's guilty of, and that they don't have the stones to stand up to him. To any objective observer he was clearly guilty of the charges in his two impeachments, but Senate gops wouldn't convict.
comment in response to

No, he must be convicted by the Senate before he can be removed from office. Impeachment is an administrative procedure, not a criminal one. The impeachment process is completely separate from criminal processes, or is supposed to be.

The abysmal SCOTUS ruling did include an important caveat; the word "official". They said the President is immune from prosecution for performing his OFFICIAL duties. The coming months will definitely put that qualifier to the test, i.e., can commission of a crime be considered an official duty?

Aaron; I love following you for the commentary, but don't you think that reposting video from sewers like OAN and Newsmax just amplifies the b.s. they are slinging?
comment in response to

Sorry, I wasn't clear. He cannot be impeached UNLESS it can be proven that he actually committed a crime. Nothing is automatic. Indeed, it was proven in both of his previoius impeachments that he had committed crimes, but the gop-controlled Senate chose to ignore them and acquit.
comment in response to
post
He definitely needs to be impeached, but in order to remove him it must be proven that he has committed an actual crime. Until then, and as long as the Senate is in gop control, no impeachment can succeed.

This is all just a smokescreen to distract us from what he and his minions are really doing to our government.

Exactly. It's been happening for years, primarily from the gops.

I have been terrified of this exact scenario since the orange clot sleazed his way back into the White House.
comment in response to

Exactly!! How can the progressives motivate their voters the way the crazies have? We'd better figure it out, and even now it may be too late; I fully expect the Orange Excrescence to try to suspend or eliminate elections.
comment in response to

Well, the Rep is actually correct: there IS a difference between actual evidence, for example all the actual evidence against Trump and his lickspittles, and trumped up evidence, like all the bullsh*t dreamed up against the targets of Trump's retribution fantasies.

The Emoluments Clause was supposed to prevent this kind of grifting, but his last turn in the White House showed that the clause has no teeth. Trump has zero regard for laws or norms, as nearly half the country knew last November.

Chambord is not too far from Amboise, where Leonardo spent his last years in an estate (Clos de Lucé) given him by the French king Francis 1st. Seems to me that this would tend to lend credence to the claim that da Vinci designed this wonderful staircase.
