Dear US trans ppl, I’m a historian & interested in Queer, science & art history. As a result I’ve studied the rise of fascism & its impact on Queer ppl. One of the features that comes up is that so many people couldn’t believe it was happening, didnt believe it would happen to them or…

noem saying thery're going to "liberate" california from its leaders seconds before federal law enforcement restrains and removes one of the state's senators from the room—like what else needs to be said

I called both of my US senators to condemn what happened to Senator Padilla and to say that as their constituent, I expect them to defend the office of the Senate, to defend their fellow Senator and to remember that we are not a country that bows to a king. Here’s the number: 202-224-3121

"The Trump administration's eagerness to deploy the military in an American city is a major warning sign for our democracy," Wisconsin AG Josh Kaul said. "This is not normal, and it must not become normalized. The judiciary should stop this."

After he was handcuffed and pushed to the ground for trying to ask questions of Sec. Noem, @padilla.senate.gov said he and others have been trying to get DHS answers on immigration for weeks He isn't alone. Reported on this trend for @propublica.org in April www.propublica.org/article/trum...

Not taking anything away from Senator Padilla because he was treated atrociously But I JUST want to remind everyone that the Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, a Black woman, was just indicted for just asking questions at an ICE detention center in her state Keep that same energy of support for her

The court is sending the “troubling message” that it will relax its standards and norms for “certain litigants,” Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wrote in a recent fiery dissent. www.law.com/nationallawj...

So they mean to tell us that Kristi Noem, the US Secretary of Homeland Security, has no idea who Senator Padilla, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, and Border Safety is? Like seriously??

Wisconsin’s State Capitol is filled this afternoon to honor Supreme Court Chief Justice Ann Walsh Bradley, one of the great jurists in the history of Wisconsin and the nation. The first woman to join the court by election (as opposed to appointment) her decades of service transformed the judiciary.

@dscc.bsky.social @judiciarydems.senate.gov YES! Calling ALL Senators!👇

Boebert: What we’re seeing in LA is an insurrection Pritzker: You don’t know understand what insurrection is. It is outrageous that you are asking that when you are the one condoning the pardoning of people that attacked police.

Damn right!! 👊

Kristi Noem must resign. She has deported a four year old with cancer, detained a U.S. marshal, and arrested two members of Congress. She’s lost the confidence of the American people. ICE must stop terrorizing our communities.

Weird how Kristi Noem didn’t recognize Sen. Padilla?! It was just 4 months ago he publicly opposed her. Oh ya…and all this! Committee on the Judiciary • Subcommittee on Criminal Justice and Counterterrorism • Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, and Border Safety (Chairman)

Senator Padilla was driven violently to his knees–as if made to kneel before the authority of the executive–because the administration called his questions “disrespectful”. This should offend not just the other 99 Senators. It should offend the conscience of this country.

Under Trump's Big Ugly Bill, America's poorest families lose about $1600 per year. The richest households gain about $12,000 per year. It's Reverse Robin Hood. (Via CBO)

As the videotapes clearly show, Noem is lying. Padilla is clearly identifying himself as a senator before he he is thrown to the ground and handcuffed. www.mediaite.com/media/news/p...

“Nobody knew who he was” — Kristi Noem on a US senator

“Restricting access to information and nominees for lifetime appointments also undermines the public’s confidence in the judiciary.” www.abajournal.com/web/article/...

Straight up fascism

HAPPENING NOW: Judge Charles Breyer (brother of retired SCOTUS justice Stephen) hears arguments on whether to grant California's emergency motion to limit Trump's deployment of the National Guard in LA. 🧵
