👏👏Brill to see @chrishinchliff.bsky.social stand up for his constituents & support public ownership. Water is an essential resource & public water is fundamental to a healthy democracy. @weownit.org.uk @labourlewis.bsky.social @mpwatch.bsky.social @zero-hour.bsky.social @peoplesmomentum.bsky.social

An overused term on social media, but @munirawilson SCHOOLS Lord Frost on #Brexit here - and it is glorious! DF: "Anyone can come up with anecdotes." MW: "These are not anecdotes, but cold hard facts. Your Brexit is damaging our economy - which your gov't left on its knees." ~AA

“Be careful. When a democracy is sick, fascism comes to its bedside, but it is not to inquire about its health.” Albert Camus

@nathantankus.bsky.social can you follow up?

@medenomy.bsky.social Unverified but 👀 👀 👀 ! 'Own security' = DeVos's bro Eric likely

Beyer's comment that it's hard for Dems to purposely gum up the works because they want government to work is, I think, the reason Republicans are better at street fighting. No Republican ever says, "we don't want to cause damage that gets a lot of innocent people hurt and destroys the country."

Scott Bessant, the new US Treasury Secretary (much like the UK Chancellor) has given all payments access to the El Muskateer this weekend. No one elected either of these men. Musk &Co. was handed clearance to plug in private HD servers at govt offices. Payback for helping an election result?

This is a useful service that's been set up to try to tackle some of the difficulties that private housebuilders are having with finding a housing association or council to take on the affordable homes on new sites.

Brilliant local efforts being documented here: Creating a social memory of the work and leaders in the Community Energy space in Devon. Plus and arts project re portraiture! ...what's not to like? vimeo.com/1028416087

Meme: absolutely reductive view to divide haves/have nots Me, thinking abit: the human race's chief failing CAN BE reduced to one thing--being obsessed about territory/autonomy and its modern iteration of property ownership/control of others.

Seems so obvious that communities are often best placed to lead their own dvlpt & that many alt models are broken! A new report from the the European #CLT Network shows various scenarios of communities successfully managing #housing & mixed use & urban dvlpts www.clteurope.org/newsandinsig...

Bsky! Pls make this press conference by Elizabeth May, Green Party Leader of Canada go viral? It's one of the best a-z lessons on how-to pushback and take questions on the utter nonsensical incoming US admin and GOP. Deserves a FULL watch. You'll be glad you did! www.cpac.ca/headline-pol...

Independent and unbiased (ie proxy) journalism is so important as a bulwark against our creeping autocracies. I mourn with Carole the passing of the Observer into oligarch hands. Worth reading all 18 posts of her thread here:

"We talked about how a Poverty Truth Parliament—made up of people who have lived through poverty—could change things. Imagine the impact if those who have actually experienced poverty were at the table when decisions are made"

Really good move here on planning: - Frees up councillors to focus on making Local Plans - Speeds up planning process - Reduces uncertainty - Respects planning officers as professionals doing their job, which should help staff retention. www-bbc-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.bbc....

🔥 The new EU General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) are coming into effect on Dec 13th. They'll cause UK businesses quite some #Brexit headaches.

It's very much gone under the radar but from today, the maximum discounts for the Right to Buy have fallen from £102,400 (or £136,400 in London) to between £16,000 and £38,000. This is a massive reduction and likely to reduce sales considerably. There's also a consultation out on wider reforms.

Micromanaging housebuilding through intensive reporting and assessment criteria should be a win-win for the public purse. Plain to see that talking about and doing when it comes to development are two parallel universes. www.ft.com/content/1977...
