My grandfather survived the attack on Pearl Harbor aboard the USS West Virginia. He went on to serve as a diver for the remainder of the war. My father served in the 173rd Airborne Rangers in Vietnam. If they were alive today they would be destroyed. They didn't fight just to see America fall.

How do you practice this? I ask because I personally have trouble empathizing with people who are hell bent on causing harm to others. I cannot love someone who wishes to destroy others, but I'd like to try and learn how to do it. I don't want any hate in my heart.

I still don't understand how a person can accept what is told and never look into things themselves. If someone told me "slaves were happy" I would immediately feel skeptical. I don't think indoctrination should overshadow human empathy. At some point as you grow up, shouldn't your empathy kick in?
