Trump placed this county on the travel ban. It’s a vacation spot for cruise ships. Yet the residents there are banned from US entry. Just nonsense.

This 1928 condo I might put an offer on has bidet and I’d be excited to have that. Yes, really. Once you go to Japan, it changes you!

I lived in Durango, CO at the time of this and someone’s Christmas wreath was a peace sigh and they had to deal with vandalism and getting letters to the editor at the newspaper about it.

No, the Iraq war was nothing like this. There was a case made in public over many months, coordination with allies, a military buildup, and strategic goals. It was not one demented lunatic arguing with himself on TV over 5 days.

I logged on to facebook and got this post. That is a transformer pad. Holy shit, *do not* sit on this. Even sitting on the ground a foot away from it is so much safer than sitting on that. In the utility industry, we would have to wear special clothing if we are near one of these if they are opened.

if i can be y’all’s dad for a second: one of the most important things I’ve learned is that acquiring a skill is literally uncomfortable that awful moment where you feel confused and stupid and embarrassed? it means you’re about to learn something. and it’s *mandatory* if you want to get better

In retrospect, I probably should have workshopped “I don’t want to have a career development discussion with you because you don’t understand my job” a bit before saying that out loud to my boss.

Look, I normally don’t comment on other city’s politics because Portland has had son terrible mayors, but come on New York, WTF? How do you keep electing garbage people?

A lot of examples of respectfully horny in the replies here.

You’ll be too young to remember, but there was a time when you could wake up as many as three mornings in a row and not find the world had lost its fucking mind.

I really can’t belief St. Kitts and Nevis on is on that travel ban. The whole thing is bad, but St. Kitts and Nevis is a tiny nation of some islands in the Caribbean. Like, a cruise ship pulls up and out-populates it. Ridiculous!

Since it's early Saturday and I cannot sleep, once again, this devastating @theonion.com piece hits hard. One of the photos should show someone graduating from school or enrolling in school or something, but otherwise it's perfect. theonion.com/report-every...

"Separate the art from the artist" i groan to myself as I crack open yet another well regarded history book that turns out to be written by a guy with an AEI fellowship

Insurance companies as the canaries. . .

I love this one of this so much. I regret to report this is my current mood.

Worth considering that one reason Bluesky doesn't always feel super fun is that current events are relentlessly horrifying and bad

All the comments on this reddit thread are amazing. "I lost respect for him when he admitted he cant fathom how sandworms work." Just an incredible sentence! www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/...

This was a comment on a New York Times article about Amy Coney Barrett and this guy makes up a whole situation in his head that didn't happen to get anti-semitic about.

How does this keep being true?????

The way these two events are described, you would come away thinking that they were similarly attended The @washingtonpost.com is effectively the marketing department of the Trump administration
