In a very red county of less than 35k population in rural California there were around 200 people, and massive support from passerby. Peaceful even in the face of MAGAts flipping off the US flags that were waving...

Exactly. While there were some LAPD officers doing f-ed up shit, LAPD was not a part of the raids that started everything. They weren't helping ICE at Home Depot or schools or businesses.
They were doing crowd control in their city. So the governor doesn't have to call in the NG to help...
