I was really surprised to see that. It almost could've been stereotypically "okay" (albeit as a poor caricature of the disorder) until they went to the evil alter trope. So disappointed.

“Aerial defenestration” I don’t have that marked on my 2025 bingo card yet, but I’ll admit that the space was added thanks to Boeing, not Moscow.

In this one, I think it tried to have two peoples’ signatures, so maybe Bowie’s cat handler signed on Biscuit’s behalf. 😹

❤️'d for the effort, not for the decline! 😱 No more wild years? Please?

What's the most effective way to format these claims in the Accomplishments section of a résumé, and for which jobs does this open the most doors for in a post-House career? Asking for a friend... 😉

I still remember an older woman who praised my Jewish husband for being "so Christian, but with a small 'c'." (She meant well, but I think there may have been a glass of wine involved.) I wish more Christians were similarly "christian".

I knew those two years of Latin in high school were worth it! Gratias tibi ago, Domina Oates!

I feel for y'all! I've had shingles twice and have thankfully since gotten the Shingrix vaccine. I never want to go through that again, and mine wasn't even as bad as yours. Dissociation is your friend.

As part of this post, I want to acknowledge some creators that really helped me when I was trying to figure out what was going on. Some were OG creators in the DID space, and I'm forever grateful to them as pioneers in a then-even-more-controversial area of mental health.

As our son taught us long ago, "That was _then_, and this is _now_!" The wisdom of an 8 year old.

Is that the same thing? I see those are "fries", so I think they have potato starch mixed in with the cornmeal for its effect on the texture.

I was told by my spirit guide to pull a card. I went through the deck without looking, feeling for one, special card. Only one tingled, and it tingled hard. I'm sure you can guess which card it was. Honestly, I love being bashed over the head with spiritual evidence. I need it sometimes.

I'd once had an issue I was working through, and I thought about what Tarot card would represent the outcome I wanted. I thought "If this is meant to be, it would be the _X of suit_ Tarot card." Predicting which card it would be gave me a 55/56 "out" of being wrong (I only use the minor arcana).

It feels more like this kind of mood to me, but this 4-day weekend has me confused.

And thanks for this use of NLP. TIL about Neuro-Linguistic Programming, but it certainly makes sense here. (My mind first went to Natural Language Processing, aka having computers deal with human language.)

Ah, I see you are equally sensitive to others trying to manipulate you. I've become so aware of psychological marketing tactics and even casual comments from others that are trying to cause me to react in a certain way. A bit of demand avoidance results from that. I'm sorry I can relate. 🫂

As someone with a longtime interest in divination, I've tried getting readings a few times over the years. Each time, they've come up missing the mark with nothing resonating. One reader even refused to have me pay afterward given that it was so off-base.

My therapist said that this isn't manipulation (in the pathological sense, I guess), but I engineer outcomes from people and that feels like I'm manipulating them. You seem like a great person to ask... What do you think? Manipulation or benign (as if it could be a binary thing 😂)?
comment in response to post
I've long said that I believe I can "manipulate" people. I've recently come to understand that it was the observation of the microexpressions and, as you say, pattern recognition that allows me to steer conversations quite effectively.

I hope you have what my stepmother and I each had. It was some sort of keratosis that was very easy to treat.

And to think, we autistic, cPTSD folks probably have the skills to do well on the other side of the table. My husband thinks I’d be a good therapist because of how much I pick up from people.

Words have meaning. At least to the rest of us. For some, they're merely tools for manipulation.

I saw the news that she's since regretted that letter. I wonder what about it she regretted, the message itself, its delivery, or that it ended up being public.

In an episode of @mayimbialik.bsky.social's Breakdown podcast, Mayim seemed intrigued by things like NDEs that could transform someone from an atheist to spiritual. I wouldn't have believed something like that would happen, and yet now I feel connected and talk to spirit guides after my own STEs.

One of the things that surprised me the most about my journey was starting out essentially as an atheist and coming out having been imbued with a deep spirituality. I gained a sense of purpose, and I am now aware of the value of being a cog in the machine of the Universe.

Thank you very much. It's been quite the journey... and quite the transformation — I basically started becoming a new person. Eventually, "persons" even (DID). My husband and I nurtured these new selves into a healthy, familial relationship, and we all are much better off for that journey.

"the right to same-sex marriage would leave people who object to it on religious grounds more vulnerable to social stigma" So me having the right to be married to my husband might cause someone else's feelings to get hurt? That's quite the compelling constitutional argument. 🙄

As a very STEM person by upbringing, I never expected to be inspired to create. I've knit and crocheted, I've written software, and now I make 3D-printed designs. The power of creation allows me to invite people into my world, and for that, I'm truly grateful.
