I've heard bluesky also trusts clients to generate the preview for links so if you know what you are doing you can supply a fake image and title and blurb for a url to a site (like a new site) to make it look legit...

Ok, apparently Gemini will scrape your on-screen content for suggestions, because Android is now officially the worst. So my friend turned this random setting off. Unfortunately when I asked if that fixed it:

But also just "All those criticisms you've been holding on to need to be headed right into your MPs inbox." perhaps if all of us yell hard enough together maybe we could get electoral reform back on the table for instance

I am being reminded by some folks that now would be a good time to engage with your local politic. Maybe that means seeing whats up with the local party you wanted but didn't get elected and opening discussions.

Good luck to everyone. We caught a little luck perhaps, have some breathing room, but probably don't relax. Those emergency plans you were dusting off and putting on the table and side eyeing? Now you just have a few years to start putting them into action instead of panicked weeks. 💜

Which could be a call to action for some. Perhaps get engaged more. A different type of call to action may just be continuing to work with your communities to build safety and resilience at the local level where possible and however that looks (also please share)

It would be nice if the NDP revitalize after this perhaps. It would be hilarious if the cons fracture apart. These are the things that possible might lead a step or two back from the cliff edge we're perched on. But if they don't happen, people need to figure out what they can do.

I'm glad we've been given some breathing room but that's all it feels like. Folks need to take it as the warning it was to keep preparing, making plans, doing work.

I'd have made a starter pack but apparently you can't make one without yourself so one the above folks can make one for this team

Incredible achievement, congrats on now being able to launch S*P The Second Generation. I've been along for the ride since like 2003? Thanks so much! and I look forward to seeing Rory, Gris and their new LA friends' adventures! Really truly rare that something lasts long enough to naturally do this!

I kinda took it as a sign that the thursday and friday drops were just pricing this in already?

the less nice parts of my nature also notes that with CTV publicly acknowledging they cave to sustained pressure and harassment campaigns I can't want to start screaming at them about this loudly and often and encourage a crowd as clearly that's how they make decisions and maybe we get this reversed

is the grant morrison / vera drew chat going to eventually be posted online?

This continues to be the death of traditional media. I'm consuming more news from you than all of CTV, which wasn't hard, they've hardly been worth checking for ages, and I have never followed any outlet of theirs anywhere ever.

it's pretty disappointing that a giant org like ctv couldn't "stand up to this" but you're just left to on your own, and then do? which really... puts the lie to their "we don't have the bandwidth" when single person you copes and produces work. Really sorry. And angry

Ah yes that would definitely decrease the value of the trip lol. Recommendation withdrawn

@cstross.bsky.social Dunno if it's too far but the movie is amazing so might be worth the trip alone, but forwarded by a discussion between Vera Drew and Grant Morrison seems like a pretty special event that would be a sad miss (Since I'm on another continent I'm praying it ends up online after)

honestly don't feel so bad, you've been entertaining my time line for near on a decade by now, honestly past time I chip in :) Thank you!

been a minute since I was in a setting where not everyone was on the same page that human rights trump local government laws so that was a little surprising (but in retrospect giving the setting not) to navigate. But I'm old and tired and not up for debate on that. All the more reason to re-attend

No joke: I think a friendly way to learn how to think like a hacker is to play Untitled Goose Game. The goose takes otherwise innocuous everyday objects from its environment and chains them together for exploits to achieve its own ends

I feel like we can cover the news of it with out sharing the material no? Eroding these principals in the name of "well it's funny when it happens to my enemy" seems like a poor and losing policy that's not very future looking? consent has to be for everyone or else it's rapidly for no one.
