As fate would have it today is the 20th anniversary of our first podcast release. Who would've thought? 20 years.

This book is pure enlightenment. An African History of Africa by Zeinab Badawi. I basically had no concept of African History other than ancient Egypt and the European history of slavery and colonialism. I'm a wiser man now. Can't recommend it enough! #booksky

Let me state the obvious here:if somehow all this smoke about Iran turns into anything real involving any military action by US (hard to believe...If we go there we're truly in crazy town)the President could then drag in all kinds of little-used war powers to add to things like the Insurrection Act.

Why Trump's military parade is even more appalling than it seems. slate.com/news-and-pol...

You can fly them upside down to indicate distress also. I've seen a few houses in my area flying the upside down American flag on their patriotic flag poles.

Absolutely. We should hope these protests are flooded with American flags. It messes up the anti-American narrative the right-wing media is using to keep people from associating these protests with the rich constitutional history of this nation. Don't allow them to do that! Optics matter folks!

I'd like to see more visibility from the House and Senate Dems in the leadership. They are way too passive right now.

I hope all the governors are in contact with each other and doing some strategizing. Harder to "tar and feather" a large group of them.

38 years ago Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death is a compilation album by the American hardcore punk band Dead Kennedys released in June 1987 through the record label Alternative Tentacles. #punk #punks #punkrock #hardcorepunk #deadkennedys #history #punkrockhistory

No argument about the lack of cooperation. But I've taken part in dozens of protests, covered a hundred more as a journalist. Was present at the LA Riots (with a press pass that let me defy curfew). I've never seen violence help. Never. Speaking as purely a strategic method to aid effectiveness.

Take away the furry parts on the collars and cuffs and that was my look for about six years. I'd still be doing it today if I wouldn't look like a ridiculous poseur.😡 Time is a cruel fashion dictator.

Keeping protests peaceful Is terribly difficult because a few people can screw up an otherwise overwhelmingly peaceful affair. But to say that these few can cancel out the 1st Amendment rights of everyone else makes no sense either.

Taking folk who aren't legally here+deporting them is a political question. You may be for or against it, but it is completely legal to deport them.HOW YOU DO SO is what makes it constitutional or unconstitutional.Things like habeas corpus for example are crucial protections for us all.
