Yeah, this isn't about too many people buying cars. It's about not giving them any other option for individual daily trips.

Like his tweets and campaign stops, these are newsworthy because he has so little discipline and no professional filter. You never know what he is going to say.

Well... Less of a minefield to deal with in the dating pool.

Every ebike and scooter on the roads is an improved case for bike infrastructure.

I started there as a contractor analyst not that long after.

Yeah, COBOL code needs to be replaced and modernized. That's why folks working there have been on it for months.

I'd add that people around the world should be studying *us* right now even if they don't want to be here while they do it.

If Signal could be defective... Why would they use it at all?
comment in response to
post
Heck, they'll just make up a story. Be ready for another round of immigrants somewhere supposedly eating cats.
comment in response to
post
Though, the biggest part of this story is the fact that they used Signal for this at all.

My only explanation is that it's a crime to not remove yourself once it is proven to be real.

It could also be a last straw sort of thing. "Ok, fine, I'll try the subway for a bit "

To your point about the value of fresh faces, it would definitely be smart to purposely select the right person for each as opposed to a hard rule. Falling back on that person when there isn't a compelling reason to pick anyone else wouldn't be crazy, though

It's not like "shadow cabinet" is a defined thing in US government. I'd only see it as a special designation by the party. I can't believe there would be a legal restriction.

100% yes. Even just use the appropriate ranking members on Congressional committees to play that role. Organize the case against the administration the same way the administration is structured.

I'm not sure what you want Dems to do. There just isn't any leverage until voters can be convinced they made a mistake with their 2024 vote.

I don't disagree at all. Since Trump doesn't seem to care, we need Republicans below him to feel that pain.
The problem is there's often no real recourse after an election until the next one. Elections have consequences.

Well, shutting down the government wasn't going to be the answer. That would just push it to be faster. The real answer is making sure all voters have a clear view of the results of what they are doing. It always has and will lie with voters.

Add the housing meltdown in 2008. That was my early 30s.
comment in response to

There's not much they can do at this point. Administration folks are talking about ignoring orders from the judiciary. Even shutting down the government would be exactly what his admin wants.

Depth chart appears to be:
Skubal, Flaherty, Olson, Mize, Montero
Jobe, Madden, Manning

Am I correct in interpreting this to say that the vast majority of enslaved people were taken to South America? Was this Spanish colonies keeping them? Were many taken over land to present day USA? I always assumed that this was a predominantly North American issue by the late 1700's.

Tech Bros, maybe. For true technologists, it's recognizing that tech advances are going to change things in a way that some won't like. ATMs "broke" jobs as bank tellers.

You're not wrong about that, but I was thinking the "original model that was successful" was seeing updates from friends. (I would argue the "rating chicks" model wasn't what made it successful, though that's 100% just semantics since it was a reasonably successful start.)
