The alternative would be Laughton getting the game winner and nutty flyers fans screaming that we should have kept him ! Lol

Agreed . I am as well. But it would be very comical if brad Marchand gets the game winner for the panthers and continues haunting this franchise and fanbase.

Don't feel bad for skenes , he won't be a pirate for too much longer .

It's a massive accomplishment regardless of who the opponent was.

Legend on the field , which in turn has led to Sunday home game blabathons about absolutely nothing.

It's what happens when a franchise goes 50 years without a cup and a decade without any sort of excitement or anything to hold onto. Some fans will be upset no matter what , for me it's a hire that makes sense for both parties . I think briere and Jones are aware of how pivotal this off-season is.

Exactly! Couldn't have said it better myself.

Only a day after the gm saying he was safe lol. What a dumpster fire of an organization

25 million to get made fun of for a few hours , damn what a tough life

They are under contract through 2030

For me it wasn't all that bad . Once they couldn't get 1, 2-6 can be a toss up depending on who you read . I'm more intrigued by what Danny does with the other two picks and what trades he may try to cook up .

One of the knicks halftime dancers is from the Philly burbs , why no mention of that? Lol

I know its easy to say but this off-season will make or break this plan . The fallout from torts (a partner in this plan) was not a good look. On the flip side, michkov and the late surge from Tyson really has me excited going forward .It'll come down to hitting home runs with coach and draft/trades

I usually don't watch a lot of NBA games especially west coast games but caught the final quarter and good God some of those calls against the warriors were horrendous down the stretch ..

So we are supposed to applaud the decision after a handful of games ?? Give me a break! I agree that Jim would have them in similar positioning as well . The fact that he is trying to justify anything after a month or so in is hilarious to me .

As long as he knows he's being yelled about , that's all he's ever cared about .

Hey you seen them with the flames at all?? Torts wasn't the issue , they have played poorly there as well .

My point is there is zero need to bring in a big splashy hire as head coach . They are not at that point yet .
comment in response to

I think the guys really like him but as you said , he has to be on board as well . I just don't see a need to hire a tochett or some other bigger name that may be out there . If they improve the goaltending and get the pp out of the gutter to at least average , they will compete for the playoffs

I believe it's shaw for 2 years then a big time hire for when they are ready for the next leap

I'll hold off until I see what he looks like next year under a different coach . He certainly has the tools to be a very productive 2nd line winger , just needs to be more consistent .
comment in response to

He's going to put up 60 or more points on a team with little talent and zero power play to speak of. It's been fun to watch him.

So I guess he's another guy with half a foot out the door
comment in response to

I agree . Especially with the whole "culture" aspect of it all . If the guys you deemed fit to be here in the long run are sick and tired of him then it's time to move on .
comment in response to

The only thing I can come up with is the guys who will actually be with them going forward (tk, Tippett , sanheim, etc) had enough . I mean tippet spoke with management the other week about what exactly the plan is/was going forward. I just figured it would be an off-season move .
comment in response to

Oh I get it, I understand it from that aspect. It's easy to start a season saying they are cooked and project what it will look like in 2-3 years but what was the alternative ? Not sign Harper ? Or wheeler or make the moves that teams of past would or never could make .

I don't understand people who complain . I'm 38, id say for about 27-30 years of my life the Phil's have been hot garbage . this run in general has been great . Imagine if they stunk again and 3/4 of the city teams were poo poo. Enjoy it while it lasts

If this is what they are for the remainder of the season , I think torts moves upstairs next year.

Teams simply don't want to pay luxury prices for a guy averaging 58 games a year in the past 4 seasons . Everyone says how valuable he would be come playoff time , I don't see it .
comment in response to

Ahh yes lining him up nightly with Deslauriers during a throw away season certainly provides enough Intel into what type of player he could be .

You may be right . Its tough to lose someone who has been around a dozen years but on the flip side if this helps lead to entertaining/competitive hockey being back in the future ,then it's a win win .Scott was able to go home and play for the leafs and who knows ,maybe he comes back down the line.
comment in response to

Well the idea is someone or a few of the younger guys can take over for what he left behind. But not trading him wouldn't have been smart , its an incredibly tough trade to make but they stink with or without him , its up to the new generation to take over on and off the ice following his example.

Lol your not wrong . I just can't fathom why we need to see Deslauriers at all .
