What’s strange is how obsessed you are with JKR.

It was Maughan who began this little spat with a 10 post rant at JKR.

If you read the thread, Rowling was clearly trying to be supportive of Suzanne Moore, not big herself up. And Maughan, as usual, was being ridiculous when he implied Suzanne Moore, a former staffer on Marxism Today, is far right.

I haven't had the pleasure of dining with Jolyon but he's clearly a bit of an obsessive as can be see from his multi-post rant against JKR. Fortunately he's quieted down since Rowling reminded him that her solicitors were keeping a close eye on his various claims about her.

Unless you happen to be one of the many feminists who are prepared stand up for reality and assert that biological sex is real, immutable and of considerable social significance.

Hmm….having looked at your link it is a pretty big and obvious rat.

I don't think Lineker should have lost his job if only because he immediately apologised and deleted his post. But if he really should have realised that it was an obvious antisemticis trope and in future be much more alert to what he's reposting.

You smashed it tonight on BBCQT. Now that you’ve got time on your hands perhaps you could help the Government improve their abysmal communications.

As little as possible - apart from praying that he end up at The Hague before too long.

I think we all are in a surreal alternative reality😕

Trump’s golfing weekends must be adding up by now.

Does anyone dare beat Trump?

Agree with both you and @jamesdaustin.bsky.social. But we also saw how difficult it is to respond to the simplistic solutions offered by right wing populists. How do you counter slogans like Take Back Control or MAGA when you know genuine solutions to the underlying problems are necessarily complex?

However Trump was highly effective at creating a narrative that Biden and the Democrats were trying to prevent "the American people" from voting for him again. I fear that Le Penn could do the same.

If Joyce said that then I strongly disagree with her.

There is no conclusive research showing that the risk is lower. The best that researchers can can say is that HRT treatment “is thought” to lower the risk. We won’t know the answer until there is reliable long term monitoring and for that you need to know sex at birth.

I doubt that Helen Joyce has ever advocated for a reduction in trans people either. And Sullivan certainly hasn’t.
comment in response to post
What evidence do you have that “more regressive” policies are being hidden? I think most “GC feminists” are quite open about wanting to retain both sex based rights for women and the protections for trans people in the Equalities Act.
comment in response to post
I wasn’t arguing that. But trans issues were important to 22% of Trump voters and the reason he spent $215 million on divisive anti trans ads. navigatorresearch.org/2024-post-el...

Had the Democrats brought in sensible policies on recoding biological sex then I’m sure Sullivan would have been delighted. As they didn’t it’s unfair to accuse her of supporting Trump’s wider anti trans agenda when she says she agrees with him on the narrow issue of recoding sex.
comment in response to post
The challenge in the US is that the Democrats have not adopted the kind of common sense policies on differentiating sex and gender that Sullivan advocates. As a result they have left the door wide open for Trump and MAGA to exploit which in turn has meant a whole scale reversal of trans rights.
comment in response to post
As far as we know the answer is yes she will have the same chance of getting prostrate cancer. But numbers are small and unless we can do long term monitoring that covers both biological sex and gender then we won’t know the answer important questions like that.
comment in response to post
Sex Matters is not anti-trans. As its name implies it argues that biological sex is real and matters in many spheres of life.

Hmm…it also involves a lot of chauffeuring and non stop catering.

You clearly don’t understand what a struggle life is for the property owning class.

It sounds to me that Phillipson is playing is playing a smart game. She is putting forward options for cuts that she knows will be politically unacceptable. That's how you protect your budget.

Do you know whether C4 will still have a TDF highlights programme?

Hopefully Starmer realises the UK does need to disentangle. But that is going to take years to achieve so in the meantime Britain needs to try to maintain some sort of relationship with the US.

What is an "illegal protest" anyway?!?
