This was a fascinating read. I remember talking with a very smart 12 year old who was “Team Gale.”I tried pointing out that Gale was a war criminal who basically killed Katniss’s sister, and she was like “but he’s way hotter.”

Just stopped by to enjoy you getting ratioed. Spilling national security secrets isn’t in fact relatable you absolute morons. Please delete this article before you make the national dialogue even stupider than it already is

Girl, I am writing short stories for adults these days and whew! The rejections are coming fast & furious. Also, kidlit cred counts for nuthin in “literary” spaces because reasons.

The curse of knowledge means that it’s hard to remember when a debunked argument was persuasive to you. But it helps people be receptive to new info if you acknowledge that their (false) conclusion might have the appearance of logical truth. “I get why you would think that!”

Question: is this a place where students can exert some pressure via a divestment campaign similar to the anti apartheid campus campaigns of the 80s? Are these endowment investments?

I feel like I need to schedule my rage so I can give each outrage its proper attention. One hour for Meta, one for DOE, one for each person kidnapped & sent to a supermax in El Salvador without due process, one for IMLS, one for USPI, one for Social Security…how many hours are there in a day again?

Definitely part of it, but in my experience the two are related—I don’t need time to think through a question I’ve been asked many times but a truly original or thought- provoking question might require a second to think.

That’s her whole campaign. But we’ve been down this road before. Her congressional predecessor, Ron Dellums, also tried retiring from Congress and being mayor of Oakland and it was an unmitigated disaster. Connections don’t actually help very much. You have to know something about city government.

And then some of these folks decide to “retire” into local government. Former Congresswoman Barbara Lee is now running for mayor of Oakland at age 78. Ma’am, our city is on the verge of bankruptcy. Can you please find another hobby?
