When writing to our GP just now I referred to the Resus department at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Autocorrect instantly turned Resus into Jesus.

Wordle 1,447 2/6 Feeling chuffed about this rare happening. 🟩⬜⬜🟩🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Got to hand it to Robbie Williams. His fans are a well-behaved bunch. No litter or broken glass around Roseburn & Murrayfield this a.m. Quite a contrast with the Taylor Swift crowd.

War in Ukraine, famine in Gaza, Trump attacking universities but top of the BBC lunchtime radio news is the death of a former BBC executive.

A squirrel has found the bird feeder.

Suddenly & unexpectedly I’m an Elton John fan.

An excellent piece by Shrimsley which, re Starmer, reminded me of those memorable lines in No Bed for Bacon: “I am their leader. I must follow them.”

Am I the only person on Bluesky who isn’t watching the Eurovision Song Contest?

I recall Ed Balls making a good TV documentary about the crisis in the care sector. Looking forward to season 2 in which he explores how the Home Secretary (to whom he happens to be married) & the Prime Minister made it worse by excluding workers from abroad.

Dear Keir Starmer: my wife’s carers, who hail from India, Ghana, Nigeria & Zimbabwe, speak better English than many who work for the BBC. None of them has ever split an infinitive. None of them has ever coupled a singular noun with a plural verb form.

No visas for overseas care workers, threatened cuts to PIP & Assisted Dying legislation votes at Westminster & Holyrood. Quite a week for the elderly & disabled.

Dear Yvette Cooper: the care workers who look after my wife are not “low skilled”.

Dear Rachel Reeves. Surely it’s time to abandon your Only Fools & Horses fiscal policy (“No income tax, no VAT…”).

Morten Morland scores another bull’s eye.

Turned on Radio 3 this am in the middle of a piece of chamber music. I know that tune, I thought. Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah played by Sheku Kanneh Mason et al. A delight.

Donald Trump is no longer the most powerful American in the world... #LeoXIV

A Leo from Chicago who annoys Republicans you say?

The electorate for the new Pope may be small, but at least we’ve moved on from the early days when the first Pope was chosen by this one guy

The 5 Dimensional Chess Master Strategists currently running the UK Labour Party might want to take a look at Canada and Australia for a hint of what happens to Centre Left parties with the courage to fight Far Right populism

He’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy.

Sir Keir, please reassure me that if Trump’s Scottish golf course is used for the Open not a single penny of taxpayer’s money will be spent on such a response to his invitation to “kiss my ass”.
