Amen to that. There is literally no distinctive offer from Starmer’s Labour atm so why would anyone vote for them? No one wants Reform-lite or Farage-lite when they can have the full-fat versions...
I find it odd that whilst Canada and Australia go left at seeing the destruction that Trump is causing, we go right. My god, is it because we have as many uneducated folk as the USA does?
I think a tutorial with Carney & Albanese for Starmer, plus a spine implant are required, pdq. Labour’s rightward drift & cowardice on calling out the disaster of Brexit & Farage/Tory complicity in it, is both alarming & infuriating.
It’s a matter of degree - once you’re comfortable with one bigotry driving policy (eg poor people are worth less than rich people) it’s just a matter of scope.
Be careful with comparisons to Canada and Australia. UK Labour won an election pre Trump. Both Australia and Canada were on course to elect a right wing government until Trump put a spanner in the works. Carney does not have an outright majority and the right have not disappeared in either country
The LNP had a steep hill to climb they only had 57 seats you need 76 for a majority. Trump was a factor but their core policy was for nuclear power and it fell flat. Before the election a Labor minority government was tipped
