An attempted unkindness?

The fact this Thou shalt not rape or Thou shalt not abuse children or Thou shalt not enslave people aren’t three of them makes the entire idea of it being a basis for morality ridiculous.

Voice is my white whale. I’ve had three teachers over the last 8 years. My biggest problem is resonance, and the fact my dysphoria spikes when I’ve tried because it just sounds so fake.

JFC. But yeah…hazing is a good term for it.

So much this. If we were still required to do “real life experience” before getting hormones I would have been miserable the rest of my life.

OH GOOD! 5is is what I get for not checking Bluesky daily anymore. But <waves at everything>

Oh no, I must have missed that. I’m so sorry. ☹️

This bill is Canada's Patriot Act, and just as the US Patriot Act led directly to the current regime in the US, this bill will do likewise here.

I may have gotten it incorrect with the situps I'll have to double check. But I know FOR SURE that the run comes down to the same between trans women and cis women. And that's the one where you've got all the muscles and bones moving.

But even then...how many sports solely are based on situps? None. So it may be irrelevant. Probably is irrelevant. And even if THAT were true...the scores are MUCH closer to cis women than they were to cis men.

And the one case where I've seen that statistical advantage is possible (in a 4-year US military study on fitness tests)...it's just for sit ups. Pushups? No advantage. The long distance run? No advantage after 18 months.

Day to day variations are going to swamp that.

Just because something is statistically significant doesn't mean that the _magnitude_ is significant. For example...it could be possible that say...a trans woman swimmer has a statistical advantage...but if that advantage amounts to 0.01 of a second over 100 meters...so what?
comment in response to post
For sure. That's why I think the important part is what the reaction to the report is...and the details are critical. Like...even if you go with the idea that trans women have a statistically significant "advantage" in sports (which I don't believe in as far as a full on sport goes)...

I know the news article I read about Jackie Robinson had a very similar quote, about how black men had an advantage over white men because of their bones and muscles. Like it's practically word for word.

...bigger thighs and he's bred to be the better athlete because this goes back all the way to the Civil War when during the slave trade...the slave owner would breed his big black to his big woman so that he could have a big black kid."

Jimmy the Greek is the easiest available quote: "The black is a better athlete to begin with because he's been bred to be that way, because of his high thighs and big thighs that goes up into his back, and they can jump higher and run faster because of their ...

Yup. I've been trying to find direct quotes about how sports media talked about black men when Jackie Robinson was wanting to join the majors. I know there was some juicy ones that were almost word for word what they say about trans women.

One thing I didn't give kudos for is that the report does emphasize the fact that you need to look at people as individuals...not everybody needs the same interventions. But conversely, you can't also do blanket bans of interventions.

Agreed. With minors, I'm willing to accept some gatekeeping, but only a limited amount, and only really in reference to starting hormones as opposed to puberty blockers.

... a CT scan showed I had an enlarged lymph node when it was actually my left testicle retracted. Or that I'd had "surgery" on my perineum.

The annoying thing is that we DO need SOME sort of reference to our natal sex. I ended up having to get an MRI when it wasn't needed because five years ago our medical system only listed gender/sex (which I'd changed) and so a doctor thought ...
