What you are passing along is wrong. There are no magic words that will stop an arrest. You don't have to say anything before arrest to request a lawyer later. You don't have to be represented to invoke your rights.

Do not spill details on the jail phone though, just tell your friend to find you a good criminal defense lawyer. Those calls are recorded and will go to the prosecutor.
