it sucks that there are so many downsides because it's really really good at generating text

i don't think so. i reframe how i view digital games. i view them as a license to play them for ~10 years, and after that i won't feel any guilt about pirating it/emulating it. because i've already given money to the developer. digital goods are inherently intangible. i support games with zero drm

yeah my friends and i like to play a game in the adverts before a movie where we try to guess what the hell is being advertised. we only get it right like 20% of the time

you're critiquing patriarchy and misogyny, rightly so, but these things came before porn being mainstream. if anything the more progressive the world gets the more porn we see

i treat it like a nintendo switch. i'm not surprised that it's difficult to get my switch to play games that aren't designed for it.

the things that seem boring to you are novel to others. I'd read any number of posts about home improvement and 3D printing so long as they're written well

it’s considered a moral failing to be fat, while working while being sick is seen as a virtue

do you think it's bad to be a "freak"?

I truly believe that there are two driving forces of technology, sex and violence.
I would prefer pleasure over suffering.

Like all speech, some is offensive, some is poetic, some is educational, some is personal, some reflects societal norms, some contests it
Attacks on porn flatten this. It's propaganda, using particular element they define ("violence! misogyny! availability!) as a justification to censor all of it

yea i was getting to the point where i just don't think we find the same things funny and it's not that I don't get the joke it's that it's not for me. Thanks for being courteous and explaining. Have a nice day

I don't really track how it's humiliating for them though. They're proud of it and share openly when they "relapsing" because it gives them a chance to get back on the wagon and keep preaching about the evils of porn

buy the physical copy then if you don't like digital games. I like to buy some games digitally because I prefer the conveniance over being able to resell it later. I know that its a license to a download that's only going to last until the servers go down, but after that I can likely just emulate it

Unite is different, it's not the same business model as the mainline games and it's cross platform with mobile. It's also free ,so mtx is the only revenue stream

quick question, why do you think that's ludicrous? What's changed about a copy of Mario Odyssey in the past 5 years that makes it worth less? If I played it in 2018 sure it's not as novel to me, but to a child it's still a brand new game. Just as valuable as it was on release.

How much crunch is there at Nintendo? What's the turnover like? Are their devs paid a living wage?

my take is the transition to digital allowed the industry to "beat" inflation for a while bc game prices stayed the same while manufacturing/distribution/retail costs dropped to almost zero, moreso for Nintendo since they own the games *and* the store, but we're reaching the limits of that now

A hobby is considered to be a regular activity that is done for enjoyment, typically during one's leisure time. I literally don't know what else it would be if not a hobby

that's just a hobby that you disagree with. why does it have to be classified as an addiction just because it's sexual? I think that's what people are getting at. If you reclassify watching porn regularly to just be normal, like watching TV, it's not longer deviant behaviour

you can fulfill the desire for sexual pleasure by touching your genitals, or having someone else touch them consensually. either while watching arousing media or not.

that's not even close to what that is

"Even though many people who grew up in religious, sexually conservative households have strong negative feelings about pornography, many of those same people continue to use pornography. And then they feel guilty and ashamed of their behavior, and angry at themselves and their desire to watch more"
