The light isn't doing it justice but I like it. The half off sale on this yarn was a lucky accident with these apparently compatible colors.

I was too lazy to get a tape measure with feet and inches. The metric one was closer. The blanket's about 6 feet by 4 feet. Definitely stretches a little when you hold it up by one end. I'm curious to see if this has the "weighted blanket" magic I hear about. Hug me when no one else will, blankie!

I'm kvetching about how many stitches I had to do, but normal width yarn with a smaller hook would take 10 or 20 times more than this. No, I won't make you one. No, not for any amount of money. I might love you but I don't love you that much. Who even are you? Where are we? Is this real life?

It felt like the makers of the Peanuts feature film were making an effort to be true to the classic tv specials. Not like putting Pooh or Tigger in capes and making them solve mysteries, at Christmas. Oh bother.

I often complain that story plots are forgettable because I couldn't remember them, but it might just be me. I remember it being pleasant. Can't remember the plot. Jfc, that was 10 years ago???

The CGI Peanuts movie was good, but the better choice will always be to keep the Little Red-Haired Girl offscreen, unknowable, unnamed, unseen, an abstract object for Charlie Brown to project his hopes and fears on.

If you put them onscreen, you have misunderstood the assignment.

This has been a pet peeve of mine for decades but it all started going downhill when they tried to show the heffalump on screen. The whole idea is that it stays offscreen and we hear Pooh or Piglet explaining how they imagine it to be. Same with the Little Red Haired Girl in Peanuts.

"In practice" is so much more complicated than "in theory."

This is my complaint about plumbing. You can see the pipes, fittings, necessary tools. You understand how they should go together. Then you start & it doesn't fit, the piece won't come off, the piece that came off won't go back on, there's no way a human could have fit into that space to reach it.

These AI synthetic text extruding machine gives what it has learned people will respond to, not what's accurate. It's like bragging about how you asked your magic 8-ball questions on how to perform surgery.

And since when does Pooh get second billing to Tigger? Sounds the people who got hold of Tom & Jerry and said, "Let's have them fight a dragon! Let's put them in the Wizard of Oz! Let's make them super spies with Johnny Quest!"

The "Congress, so something" sign is depressing because they won't. The checks and balances have been chucked and imbalanced.

In Trump's America, a person in a uniform could be faking it, and a real soldier could be out of uniform kidnapping people and refusing to identify themselves or their organization.

For what it's worth, they consider October 13th to be "the Navy's birthday" because money was first allocated for the Navy on that date, some year in 1700s. I was born in a naval hospital on Oct Friday the 13th. Never heard anyone make much fuss about it or have a parade tho. I would have noticed!

Yeah posting nazi shit about remigration while also exempting hotel and farm workers really shows how incomprehensible the way we treat immigrants is, they can’t even have a coherent system of being evil because it conflicts with other evil

Splinter is named after Stick, who was apparently a mentor to Daredevil. Get it? A little Stick is a Splinter?

I sometimes hear "Jackson" by Johnny Cash playing on speakers downtown in Jackson, Mich, but he's not a local boy.
I wonder if Ann Arbor would claim Bob Seger.

They used to call it "vaporware" when tech fraudsters hyped a product they couldn't deliver. The idea certainly applies to crypto, NFTs and "AI."

Every dictator claims his people love him & dissenters are outside agitators or paid by outside agitators. Southern politicians & sheriffs said the same about MLK and civil rights protesters.

In fact other photos of the place show a chain across the level patio area, blocking use of the steps entirely because they probably didn't want to get sued by tourists falling off them.

Youtube has some automatic bullcrap that has done this for years. You use a public domain image or song or sound. They pull it down automatically because it matches what someone posted earlier. Turns out the earlier version just applied their usual copyright assumptions to public domain content.
