The leash is a good clue to his size — you can moor boats with thinner ropes!

I shouldn’t be too quick to agree, since I haven’t watched the game yet… but yeah, if there’s one ref who’s lost the benefit of doubt with me, it’s him.

At first I thought you wrote “stormcloak”, and then I realized I was wrong. Then I read the criteria, and no, Ulfric Stormcloak is absolutely supposed to be in this list. #Skyrim

That’s the sort of discovery that would have kept me entertained for hours at every truck stop my family ever stopped at in the 80s.

That first pit stop is going to be a vital one!

Noooo not the Dreamcast

There’s a lot going on! But I like that they’re willing to make changes to the Leagues Cup to make it “more forgettable”, as opposed to the scheduling behemoth that it was last year.

🎶And now we’re off to old Québec where all the girls are dancing…🎵

Yep! I still haven’t heard much from the team about itineraries or hotel room assignments, but I’m signed up for the whole thing.

- Well, it’s still early, it took me a little while to wake up.

Yeah, that’s more like what I expected.

(It’s an alarming headline, but the article goes on to list the many successes that Johnson had during his tenure.)

I guess that’d be this James Johnson?

We need a commissioner that’s willing to transition to a love-based economy!

Yeah. For all the guff that we give York United, it’s five times more connected to Toronto than Langley is to Vancouver. Mind you, the Eagles are right next door to the Vancouver Giants WHL team… so maybe some perseverance is all it’ll take?
comment in response to post
Well, I can’t fault them for wanting to pivot. Ottawa and the league itself both needed a few years to figure out what works for them.

David Harbour really did shine in the one scene I saw with him, though.

Like, we know immediately that Bucky is an incompetent congressman and that the Countess is the villain. An entire trial scene where the Countess acts like “not a villain” while Bucky watches is pointless, especially when the exact same points are repeated at a gala next scene.

Part of it is the faded-colour griminess of the characters and settings, but the writing is a litany of overexposition — and then the running joke is that characters take too long to say what other characters already know.

That's a fair conclusion - it allows the possibility that we don't need someone "better" than Noonan, we just need to try something different. Elevating a League 1 club comes with its own challenges, of course, but at least it'd be cheap to double the seating capacity of a 2,000-seat field.

I’m not too worried about it - expansion will be the next commissioner’s priority, too, the work he did isn’t going to go away. Three years is a decent term of service.
comment in response to post
Wow. Well, like you say, he did a lot in those three years, and laid down a lot of the foundation for future plans.

The messaging should be easy: “if you have ever wanted to attend a soccer game in Winnipeg, or if you ever want to in the future, this is the ticket to buy.”

Ottawa’s overdue for a loss… and we’re overdue for a turn at the top of the table!

In their defence, they were working out of their bedroom offices for the last few years, it’s going to take them a little time to readjust.

Great - so we can’t decide on a city budget for a stadium until we solve other puzzle pieces, like “how much do roads cost and what’s the value of our roads.” We should be able to get that sorted out in a month or so, right?

With the tiebreaker after "# of Wins" being "Head-to-Head record", it means that if we beat Ottawa, we'll be in first place! (And yes, I know that first place in Week 8 doesn't mean all that much... but 17 points after Week 8 definitely does!)
comment in response to post
It is indeed. The play-by-play announcers even joked that flying a flag upside-down is a sign of distress!
