Reminds me of “The Vow”.

There’s just an endless stream of STUFF coming out of the woodwork! 😑🤬

“SOP for Pele” would have been a very different Tori Amos album.

Posh for Huddersfield: Ooh LaLa’s?

It’s very good. I’m looking forward to Curtis’ new one later this month.

Oh, that’s cool!! 😃

That’s really interesting- thanks for the link 😃

I have worked my way through all the replies on this hoping, PLEADING, that someone had mentioned this. Thank you 🙏 😆

OK, that’s a take!! Is that really a thing? Not heard that before!

Fantastic picture 👏👏👏

Please god not another Dickens or Austen adaptation! Nor Agatha Christie nor Conan Doyle. Or the doyenne of dismal Sunday afternoons, Catherine Cookson. There’s plenty of other good British writers, some in the last 50 years. How about chucking a load of budget at Nick Harkaway or Ian McEwan?

I have sponsored several publications on the platform and am flabbergasted. Even pretty well known authors like @russincheshire.bsky.social completely screwed over. Makes me seethe quite a bit 🤬

Oh that’s very good 😆👏👏👏

Desert Island Discs album for me, this, I reckon.
comment in response to post
Yep, I’ve used that one. Emagic’s Sound Diver was a godsend.

Better: “Well we were never really married, so I don’t need to ask you for a divorce “
comment in response to post
Heh, I guess like an annulment:“Well we were never really married so I’ve not ACTUALLY been cheating” 😆

Apologies for the slightly rambling pre-coffee ravings.

Your comment the other day about a constitution I think is looking in the right direction- give a positive goal for people to rally to. And if it’s shown that the last 300 years of union has been based on some dubious legal shenanigans, then that’s an opportunity to replace it with something better.

Not just “remove the shackles of the auld oppressor” but also “what kind of country to we want to be?” And you can see hints of that in what the Scottish Government is trying to do with one hand tied behind its back but there’s too much of the former and not enough of the latter at the moment for me

There is at least in this part of the highlands, no desire to go through it all again at the moment. And if the populace are dragged unwillingly into an independent state then that’s no better than being colonised by Westminster to me. Independence needs to come from a positive place:

It’s a decade ago and the social repercussions are still being felt where I am. You still can’t talk about it, which is a pity. I am pro independence and have thoughts on how it’s possible to get there, but I don’t t feel I can discuss them because any debate degenerates into ad hominem attacks.
comment in response to post
I agree totally with your first point. But I’m not sure arguing that the referendum- a decade ago now- was actually won by the independence side will help win “hearts and minds”. What it does do for me is say that 2014 was conducted on a false premise which could be grounds for a re-run.
comment in response to post
This may be so, but monarchs and politicians have deceived people the world over since time immemorial. It’s just another example. Whilst historically interesting, I can’t see it leading to an upswing in the support for independence.

We did indeed!

The track that opened up Mr Martyn’s work for me. And which you introduced me to, so thank you very much for that! 🙏

The Pingu version of The Thing is excellent. They’d probably appreciate it* *caution: they probably wouldn’t!! Possibly trauma inducing for smaller Pingu fans.

It’s just occurred to me to ask: when would you recommend going? March-ish when it’s still cool from winter, or September-ish, when the last of the summer warmth is still hanging around?

The "play" aspect of art is much underrated imho. That "no endpoint in mind" thing is a difficult mental state to achieve for me though - I always feel like there has to be a RESULT! As if doing art is not allowed to be an end in itself.

Japanese paper is fantastic - I've done a bit of moku hanga and never cease to be amased by the strength in these gossamer thin sheets. My partner makes artists books and does the occasional book restoration, which I see is something you do, so our house is full of arty paper projects.

I've found that those type of folk make themselves apparent pretty quickly in their presentations. I have found some excellent natural educators out there who really meet Lord Reith's mandate of "entertain and educate" or whatever it was. Anyone using an AI generated voiceover can get lost though.

On my bucket list of places to visit. Just not for the next few years, eh? Those doors are fantastic! 😃

The track that unlocked Mr Martyn’s music for me.
