IIRC, for the most part they used grey wolf genes that favored all white fur and size to make them look like dire wolves…so basically we’ve got a wolf of Theseus.

As a pre-internet kid browsing the Waldenbooks at the mall, I fondly remember making choices solely on the paperback cover. Sometimes it was the artwork, other times the layout, but I was always looking for something …different.

As a neighbor of Texas, seriously don’t put that past them.

You know the US is nice. I mean, mostly…erhm well large swaths are nice, right? Okay, maybe not large, but focused? Yeah, definitely we have some…concentrated, focused parts that aren’t filled with rubbish human beings. Definitely. Mostly definitely. Yeah.

My fixed rate mortgage payment has increased by 25% over 10 years due to insurance premium increases. That’s money I could be spending on upkeep and improvements to maintain or increase the value. Don’t want to talk about the $24k/yr in med premiums just to have a deductible.

Pretty sure it’s not poor immigrants getting sued by the FTC for colluding to fix consumer pricing.

This right here. All the people griping about immigrants being a burden to our system… Pretty sure it wasn’t poor immigrants who crashed the housing market. Pretty sure it’s not the poor immigrants buying up property inflating housing costs.

My take on this is that they’ve seen influencers making a living generating wealth for themselves instead of a corp with a multi million $$ CEO. It’s, oh I have the potential to earn wealth through building my own business/brand.

Yes! I didn’t have much expectation going into it other than it knowing others recommended it, so I was very pleasantly surprised.

10 yr old me went from Sherlock Holmes detective stories to sci-fi detective stories (Robot) to space operas (Foundation). Then a friend’s dad said, if you like epics, here read this and gave me The Eye of the World, which led to possibly falsifying multiple book club enrollments.

B&N’s author search on their site is a spelling test… Give me all books by Adrian Tch (cause I’m shite at spelling but mainly lazy) B&N: sorry nothing Okay, just give me every author whose name starts Adrian T B&N: mmm, here’s a bunch of Adrians whose last name doesn’t start with T

It’s just dog whistle shorthand for trying to imply that minorities aren’t as good as straight, white men.

@mcuban.bsky.social it’s been said they will borrow against those stocks getting the benefits of cash without the tax burden while being able to write off the loan interest? Is that a real thing or a common misunderstanding?

100%. Treating the worst symptoms should always be the first step as we continue to try to fully understand the disease.

This addresses the US market but not the global. China knocking off our designs to sell domestically and globally is obvs a much bigger market than NA alone. Most contract manufacturers there I dealt with wouldn’t touch anything with an existing US patent closely related unless I indemnified them.

I wasn’t aware of The Broken Binding in time to get Shroud but I did snag a copy of Service Model. Can’t wait to add it to the ever crowded bookshelf! Problem is, once you start adding special editions it makes the TPBs and standard HBs look meh!

…aren’t in the same position as Brandon plus the logistics of the publishing world but just throwing my support towards supporting author initiatives and material book quality as the cost of physical media goes up while quality shrinks.

For what it’s worth, I’d love to see high quality, hardbacks a la what Sanderson did with crowdfunding. Paying $50 here in the states to B&N for a meh quality HB edition and I’ll happily give that towards a quality HB with more $ going directly to an author. Realize the vast majority of authors…

And knowing all of this, there were still republicans willing to back his nomination.

WHO torpedoed it? Lemme ask another way, if Trump & Elon had supported it would there have been a different outcome?

Alien Clay blew my mind…I’m a sucker for a good “lost civilization” mystery and I had no idea where this was going until the end. The revolutionary undercurrent was well done and very prescient. Also, you got love a good standalone these days!

To be fair, we do need to tighten our budgetary belts around here if we expect to continue to hand out billions in tax breaks to corporations to convince them to exploit and pollute our state.

Develop prior to the need to develop the ability to function “normally” in a social context that didn’t exist until much later. And with mating success less less dependent on choice, much less, personality.

@aptshadow.bsky.social I’m encouraged by the emerging view of “disorders” as being naturally selected diverging cognitive systems with unique advantages. I’d assume these brain patterns would www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-...
