Haha thanks. Yes I know. I was updating over a dodgy tethered connection today. Il change that later. It also bothers me!

And we also have @jainm.bsky.social in the team! Though I don’t think she has posted anything here yet…

Thanks. I told them about these last week - we should post in the Teams really. Will do that in a bit.

Yep they were them :) not entirely sure what I did wrong with the vectors tbh!

Thank you as always :) I didn’t think anyone had seen it quick enough before I pulled it. @nicnaks79.bsky.social worked through it that morning. I should add that to the errata then in case others saw it too!

Yes. Much more accessible than the old spec version in my opinion - and they are only asked to use maths from A-Level, just applied to the context of the article. It’s quite nice, but I’m not sure how well it would work with a cohort with high EAL, or even high disadvantage.

Haha. In fairness I only joined them this year (after many years of contemplating it) when I left my old Head of Sixth role. But it is such a great maths team, I’m very lucky!

What prompted the change to Edexcel for A-Level? I’m curious :)

OCR (MEI) is formally OCR (B). I think I have that the right way round anyway.

Thanks for this Emily!! I’ll try to make mine complementary as I always like to have two :)

A-Level Further Maths: AQA (Mechanics and Statistics)
A-Level Statistics: Edexcel
Core Maths: AQA Maths Studies (option A)
GCSE Resit: Eduqas
I also tutor Edexcel and OCR (MEI) maths and FM

Good. Sorry I meant to message and say it was there.

Hope you noticed 2A solutions went up this morning. 2B tonight I think.

Paper 2 probably tonight, Paper 2B maybe tomorrow morning but I’m also trying to get out an A-Level Paper 2 for tomorrow morning too…

Yes. Quite a nice question but not surprised students struggled. I expect many will have done… I think there are a couple of ways to have done it.
comment in response to

Thanks. Sadly not full solutions yet but my students found the video examples useful even if they are not completely polished like @1stclassmaths.bsky.social ‘s ones!

Did it work out ok? I’m writing up my solutions tonight I hope…

I definitely got the same as you. I still really believe they don’t provide answers to this!

Here: drbennisonmaths.com/Practice_Pap... hopefully it works!

Which region are you in? Would be great for you to get involved in some of your local MathsHub workgroups. Can really recommend the sustained AMSP courses too.

I don’t know how you have found the time!!

I’d always encourage both. :) don’t like to be in a lesson without my CG100 and 991 (I’m still on the EX though!)

I’d always say the argument of the function and that it should always be surrounded by brackets. Sin 5x for example should never be written.

Once Paper 1 is done I’ll get a practice paper 2 out based on what has come up.
The list I’m doing ties into my PLCs and will also contain my historic practice paper data. But sorry not done to a shareable stage yet
comment in response to

I’ve started it but not fully done. Will be finishing during gained time hopefully. General rule though is that any pure on Paper 1 and my knowledge of the papers doesn’t show any obvious significant distinctions by paper on they’re really. #ALevelMaths

That’s very cute!! I can’t believe you didn’t show me at work!

That was how I read it. All a bit bizarre really!

Is this different to the one that was supposedly sent out in January? (Note I didn’t receive this email, neither did most people I have asked!). Basically linked to this and the exemplars. www.aqa.org.uk/news//update...

Just links to this page I think (seems to have been very badly communicated!) most people I have spoken to weren’t aware of it’s existence! www.aqa.org.uk/news//update...

Ah thanks for that Spencer. I didn’t know the back ground to that data set (though I remember using the Iris data set in R back at uni!). And have now used the penguins data set lots after being introduced to it by @tombutton.bsky.social

Ah thanks. I may just use this instead of finishing mine :) should have a paper tomorrow.

Ah nice, glad you liked it :) I wasn’t sure it would work out nicely when I first wrote it. I like it as it feels like there isn’t enough information but it drops out nicely.

I definitely think we should go back to log tables…. Who needs a calculator. In all seriousness though this was very bizarre. Will be interesting to see what AQA say in response. I’m sure many people don’t use the tables anymore, especially based on how they have been marked in recent years!

Next year I may try and give this a go
