We're recruiting three roles at @sangerinstitute.bsky.social! ➡️ Principal/senior data scientist and a (senior) postdoctoral fellow in the Lotfollahi group. Closes 6/8 July ➡️ Advanced Research Assistant to join Open-IBD with @carlanderson.bsky.social. Closes 25 June www.opentargets.org/jobs

Here's an interesting finding about antibody-antigen binding data: the most common antigen-binding AA in antibodies is tyrosine, but the most common AA in antibody mutagenesis datasets is alanine; as a result, most ML methods suck at generalizing antigen binding to non-alanine mutants

Another nice study illustrating that targeting responses to the nasal mucosa could be superior to systemic administration. The CAF09b adjuvant plus recombinant protein in an i.n. vaccine induced better nasal IgA and CD8 responses than i.m. mRNA.

Very interesting preprint from @opig.stats.ox.ac.uk arxiv.org/abs/2505.077... From a quick play with Claude Sonnet yesterday, it seems to understand quite a lot about SMILEs representations.

Michael Rosen on the 'island of strangers'. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih0W...

Very happy for Palace and their fans. Thinking @benansell.bsky.social will be very happy right now.

Anyone who has benefitted from the outstanding NHS knows that we live on a rich, multicultural society wth the very best of people; these are not strangers they're heroes.

Absolutely wonderful words from Michael Rosen responding to Starmer’s “Island of Strangers” with the caring vital role people of all nations are cornerstones of our health care

"Researchers recruited to work in the UK have to fund a £1,035 annual immigration health surcharge, which must be paid in full in advance, as well as up to £1,519 in visa fees. For a family of four, the upfront costs can total almost £30,000."

The variability across the 20 conformations in a typical NMR ensemble in the PDB represents the uncertainty from the lack of experimental data and not the dynamics of the protein in solution Thanks for coming to my TED talk

Very important work! We've been waiting for someone to do this. It has been clear for some time that a proportion of aggregated TCR-pMHC data might not be reliable. It will be interesting to reassess performance in light of this more robustly validated data.
