"Bad News Liberals" sounds like a movie about a bunch of kids whose hearts are in the right place, but aren't very good at politics.

After several years of deep soul-searching, I am forced to conclude that I do NOT hate Chimpan-Q.

That scene in every ghost movie where someone goes into the kitchen and all the cupboards are open is just someone with ADHD who was putting away dishes earlier. Also, very few of the dishes were put away.

I feel like there is an overreporting of this as a trend in writing that is pushed by *the worst people.* Every story is didactic if you are clearly the bad guy in it.

Honestly, at this point, what I care about is the Dem plan that contemplates what if they're never in the majority again. Starting now. I don't expect magic. But I would like more coordination, more communication, and more putting their bodies in the way, all the time, every day.

I am racking my brain for puns, but the other option is to just look confused when anybody asks about it and be like "I dunno. It was here when I got here."

Yeah, that makes sense. I think my brain tends to go to, like, makeover TV shows that are ostensibly about building self-esteem, but also extremely artificial/constructed.

The context I mostly see it in is fashion/clothing advice: colors, patterns, or fits. There might be some implicit biases in there (to look thinner or less washed out or whatever assumes you're not those things and want to look less the way you look?), but I don't see it as pointed.

It's an interesting book, because the structure is him emailing back and forth with a DW Magazine writer, so it's a mix of production related stuff and writing process, but at no point is it Davies saying "this is how you should do it" which, to me, makes the insights both more genuine and useful.

I love RTD's book about writing DR WHO. He's brilliant, but also absolutely ruthless about the elements of storytelling that he doesn't care about and doesn't think the audience cares about. Like, the formula is really VIBES > SET-PIECE > MORE VIBES > CRYING. (Me. I'm the one who's crying.)
