BAM! Opinion: Faculty, staff rebuke University of Saskatchewan ex-president What Peter MacKinnon characterizes as an “ideological mission” is actually the University of Saskatchewan becoming more inclusive and more just. leaderpost.com/opinion/colu...

Pierre Poilievre went from a 25-point lead and being a lock for next prime minister to losing the election — and his seat. Canadian politics…twists.

Can someone explain how Saskatchewan sent a strong message for change when the Conservatives have one less MP now?

Pierre Poilievre staying on to what exactly?

More mimicking Trump from Poilievre “And Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre mentioned in a speech last month in Quebec that he intends to put a stop to “woke” influence in federal support for research. The campaign did not reply to a request to clarify what that would mean.

Please be correct!

Universities at a political crossroads Canadian universities are facing uncertain prospects as they weigh the Liberal Party’s mixed record on postsecondary education against Conservative threats to EDI initiatives and research funding. universityaffairs.ca/features/uni...

The court system is a coequal branch of government. If the administration isn’t going to follow their orders it’s time to hold some senior officials in contempt.

“No government — regardless of which party is in power — should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue,” Alan Garber, Harvard’s president, said about President Trump's demands. nyti.ms/4jzSS9W

My whole life I’ve mostly been disappointed with election results at all 3 levels of government— with a few beautiful exceptions to keep me hopeful— but what I have never doubted was the integrity of the process (except for the Regina chickadee vote, but that’s another story) 1/4

It's long past time to ban insider trading in Congress.

An absolutely terrible idea- the Gov of Saskatchewan has lost the plot when it comes to education. Getting rid of a reasonable exam supporting non-accredited teachers & students & replacing them with costly & failed American style standardized testing. www.saskatchewan.ca/government/n...

"More than 1,200 scientists who responded to a Nature poll — three-quarters of the total respondents — are considering leaving the United States following the disruptions prompted by Trump. Europe and Canada were among the top choices for relocation." www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Disappointed to read (again) that security is interfering in the work of journalists at UBC's student newspaper.

Americans of all political affiliations will miss the checks and balances that Donald Trump is trying to dispense with.

Canadian airlines are eliminating tens of thousands of seats to the U.S. this April, while industry data shows that bookings have declined significantly.

Why aren’t you wearing a suit? Have you said “Thank you” to Greenland and Denmark for allowing you to have a base on Greenland?

I’m hoping our next government creates a special fund to take in as many highly qualified personnel fleeing, unwilling, or unable to remain or go to the USA Professors/researchers, Scientists, Medical, etc

@mark-carney.bsky.social Canada should create a special fund to take in as many highly qualified personnel fleeing, unwilling, or unable to remain or go to the USA Scholars, medical, etc

Jason Stanley, a Yale University professor who studies fascism, is moving to Canada after seeing too many signs from his own work in the American political landscape. Stanley tells Matt Galloway about how he hopes to protect democracy www.cbc.ca/listen/live-...

ICYMI: A new @policyalternatives.ca study found that Canadian communities are starving for local news. Report author and senior economist @davidmaccdn.bsky.social joined #CBC #Regina's The Morning Edition to discuss news deprivation. #localnews amp.cbc.ca/player/play/...

Yale professor moving to U of T due to 'far-right' Trump administration's pressure on universities Prof. Jason Stanley made decision after policy changes at Columbia University www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

French & English CBC are not two solitudes. If Poilievre hacks off one side in a fit of pique, the other will suffer for it. Canada is stronger for incorporating French and English together. Bilingualism makes the nation more resilient. Losing those workers, those connections will hurt everyone.

Is this Canada's biggest brain gain from the U.S. since the conscientious objectors populated our universities during the Vietnam war? I see U of T has 3 big name folks just from Yale alone. How many more have, or will, be coming north?

#cdnpoli - Professor Marci Shore is also moving to The Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy: Marci Shore is an American professor of intellectual history at Yale University, where she specializes in the history of literary and political engagement with Marxism and phenomenology.

Obviously, Jeffrey Goldberg has the texts that Hegseth claims that he doesn’t have. The Senate or House Armed Services Chairs can easily and quickly verify who is lying about this. If Hegseth blatant lied about this on camera tonight, how in the world can he continue in this job?

It is wrong to deny tenure, promotion, or reappointment to anyone involved with advocating for Palestinian human rights. Please considering signing this open letter in support of Dr. Thrasher's tenure appeal at Northwestern University. Solidarity @thrasherxy.bsky.social

Did you know that private schools are able to reject kids with special needs who require more expensive supports and can refuse individualized education programs (IEPs)? Learn more here: www.aft.org/vouchers

Let’s work to have these resources better placed in solutions that actually work right in the classroom and in the schools

I’m all for initiatives to improve literacy, But I sure hope “the Saskatchewan Student Assessment Program.” Isn’t referring to some costly and ineffective standardized testing scheme. www.ckom.com/2025/03/22/2...

Local news coverage in Canada in steep decline, inviting misinformation: report www.thestar.com/entertainmen... via @policyalternatives.ca “Without local news, disinformation, often from social media, will happily fill the void of high-quality, trusted local news.”

Virtually every leading First Amendment scholar in the country--conservative and liberal--has joined this statement warning that the Trump administration's threats to Columbia University risk deterring and suppressing constitutionally protected speech.
