If you have over 200 years of inward migration, you end up with the USA. What’s his problem?

The world is just *checks notes* 6.42 seconds away #Breaking4

I’d be careful about blaming others for leaking classified information if I’d shared some on Signal with the EiC of The Atlantic.

The pronghorn antelope can run a mile in 89 seconds, due to its 300 mL/kg/min maximal oxygen uptake. Doesn’t need super shoes. #JustDoIt? It already can, by a lot. #Breaking4

This only happens to you once.

we're living through one of the greatest technological revolutions in the history of mankind and it's not AI

It’s the exact same operation as Top Gun Maverick.

Good luck, Glasgow.

Regular reminder that Threads starts with “The Iran Crisis” and chronicles the end of civilisation. Six days later.

Trump watch Top Gun Maverick on Saturday afternoon.

Given it’s the cricket again today, I can’t stop thinking about *that* declaration on the first day of the 1st Ashes test in 2023. Everyone seemed to think it was genius. It lost England the Ashes. 1/n

He’s really leaning into the “didn’t have any friends at school, college or work” persona.

11,888 murderers you say? Suspiciously close to that phone call where you asked 11,780 votes.

The confidence interval around Faith Kipyegon’s sub-4 attempt is anything from just sneaked it to dismal failure. I’m guessing just under 4:03 if all goes well.

In a few weeks, 2050 will be closer than the year 2000.

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on. slate.com/technology/2...

“Most of you will enter a career-long salary sacrifice scheme because the coalition didn’t want to call it a tax, and universities are screwed anyway because they didn’t want the fees to rise with inflation.”

Let’s just hope Trump doesn’t watch Top Gun Maverick in the next week.

Off to bed, hoping there’s a world to wake up to.

Fucking hell, not now mate, we're full up. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

What if you funneled Niagara Falls through a straw? Watch the latest What If? video collaboration with @minuteearth.bsky.social! youtu.be/pfbzrrcQZjs

Threads started with conflict in the Middle East. On the same timescale civilisation won’t see July.

US politics is a Megadeth album cover again I see.

Students graduating this summer should be told the truth: flat, sensible, comfortable shoes. Nobody will be looking at your shoes, and your height doesn’t need adding to because you’ll be wearing a silly hat all day.

It’s called “marking student essays/exams”.

What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders? Lactic acid doesn’t cause fatigue during high-intensity athletic events.

I’m sure he won’t want to relive this incident. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formul...

One thing that shocks me from all the footage of the US 'parade' that I've seen is that the US forces don't know how to march. They are out of sync with each other, arms all over the place. Would never do for similar events in the UK. They would be in serious trouble for a performance like this.

Your regular reminder that “bubbles” are a normal part of humanity and society, and it’s the unregulated mixing of them that’s the problem. It’s why diplomats exist.

We did a short march for Rememberance Day when I was in Cub Scouts (aged about 9). If we’d marched as badly as the US Army did yesterday, we’d have got a right bollocking.

The soldiers are not even bothering to march, or they can’t march because of the music. Marching bands exist for a reason; cf. Trooping the Colour.

Great news. In a few years we’ll wonder why we choked ourselves with diesel.
