Schiff: "In the first administration, there were at least a few people in the cabinet of some independence who could say, 'No, Mr. President, that's a lawless idea, that's a stupid idea.' But there's no one in this current admin to tell POTUS 'that's a stupid idea'... there's nothing but sycophants"

think one of my favorite signs today was a younger looking teenager obviously with her parents whose sign said I AM NOT ALLOWED TO CURSE BUT I AM SO SICK OF THIS SHIT

Nobody is rioting. Nobody is breaking any laws. These are cops in my city of Las Vegas just assaulting and arresting anyone on Fremont Street who looks at them. This is fascism.

CLARKSVILLE… (From Charles Uffelman)

They have exactly as much power as we give them.

Yes and also there is inherent value in just stating your objection, in public, for the record. Staying quiet and in hiding gives the impression to those in power that you consent to this, even if you don’t.

This is probably so, so obvious to y’all but if approached by media, ask who they’re with and ideally check credentials. I saw a very obvious cop-like reporter out yesterday taking photos of a single beer bottle in the street and asked who he was with and it was Pat Robertson’s “news” channel.

The only thing that saved this day from being a shameful display by a pitiful man was the legions of Americans who made it clear that this country is worth fighting for and its will shall not be quelled by petty thuggery masquarading as strength. Never Kings.

Sidewalks and bike lanes are good infrastructure for democracy.

Any surprise at Democratic turnout at city rallies in red states is on the person surprised, at this point. Harris vote share in 2024: Iowa: 43% Montana: 38% Idaho: 30% Wyoming: 26% There are tons of Democratic voters in red states (and vice versa.) And then consider that Dems are city-based.

Padilla on Noem: "How does the cabinet secretary not know the senator from California when she steps foot into Los Angeles? She came through the Senate for confirmation."

The day started with tragedy with political violence in MN and instead of being scared, neighbors SHOWED UP to stand together at No Kings Twin Cities. We packed the Capitol Mall all the way to the Cathedral. Estimate 80,000+ right now. So proud of our state. #nokings #indivisible

After a conversation with an ex-marine Trump-hating Trump-not-supporter who was counter protesting yesterday because Trump is commander in chief, I'm thinking that we need to be passing out "military" cards on Constitution v Commander in Chief (in addition to red cards). @adamkinzinger.substack.com

Just want to take a moment to shout out the international reporters helping us get the real story out. When an 80-year-old veteran with a walker is hauled off with his hands zip-tied behind his back, and the media spins it as a “threatening breach” of a police barricade

Make your father proud by knowing it’s 'Father's Day,' with an apostrophe.

What a contrast: On the one hand, one grandiose spectacle in the nation's capital, a panorama of propaganda put on by an aspiring autocrat. On the other hand, thousands of assemblies of free citizens across the nation, authentic celebrations of the proposition that here the people rule.

There are meadowlarks *everywhere* today. There’s one playing with a piece of popcorn around the porch- dropping it, diving to catch it, landing on the powerline, tossing it then going again. He flew about three feet in front of my face playing his little sportsball game

Every ounce of hatred you pour on Trump supporters is burning down bridges, not building them. And if you want to dominate them instead of building community, you're exactly the same as they are. Be different. 🧵👇 #NoKings #SWVA

No one who loves this country and our democracy feels good about calling the President of the United States scum. But it has to be done.

WHAT FOX WILL NEVER SHOW YOU!! The news won't show you this because they have a narrative to spin.

“If ICE is going to wear a mask in their uniform, then I can.” In August, Nassau County lawmakers passed a bill banning the public from wearing masks. Protesters showed up today masked anyway. We asked them why.

We laugh, but I teach my students a NY case in which State Trooper A killed State Trooper B when shooting at a guy fleeing a drug bust, and they successfully charge the guy running (who just ran, didn’t shoot) w murder. Not saying they’ll charge protesters for this. But also saying they could.

I'm begging folks to not compliment themselves too much on their "non-violent" marches & rallies. Instead, try to understand that violence at protests is generally a result of law enforcement escalation. Then, the galaxy brain move is to ask yourself "which protests do police tend to attack?"
