One thing giving me life right now is that I've been stumbling upon more and more accounts here, from cis allies, that are foregrounding the struggle of trans people right now and elevating our voices. It's good not feeling so alone in this after years of silence from friends and loved ones.

What a delightful coincidence! My table wrapped up our first Mothership campaign yesterday! I had a blast: ended up playing two characters simultaneously for much of it after my starting marine failed to die as swiftly as any of us expected them to, after getting impregnated by alien crab parasites!

When we shame & ostracize someone for detransitioning we step into the same kinds of bullying & policing that the TERFs use against us -a kinda weaponization of discomfort with being told our perceptions of a person were not correct. Seems like a lot of folks are forgetting rule # 1: don't be a cop.

There's a rule I follow here that is probably keeping my account on the (relatively) small side, and it's this: Thou shalt not engage in discourse unless it is unambiguously "punching upward". If you're struggling with some of these cycles our community can get trapped in, I highly recommend it!

I think what people are reacting to is that "give the police more training" implies the existence of a mythical "good cop" -one who is well-trained and working to protect communities instead of the vicious organs of state violence masquerading under the banner of "to protect and serve."

The actions of the NHS and Dr. Cass have big time "Student denying that they plagiarized their final paper" vibes. As a professor, I can say: we can always tell. It's obvious when someone is lying or bullshitting because the people who are dumb enough to lie assume everyone else is just as dumb.
