Ladies Mile is a totally unnecessary road cutting across Bristol’s biggest public greenspace - The Downs - making it unsafe for kids. It was closed to cars for the day yesterday and what a change! Let’s make this permanent. @edplowden.bsky.social @robbryher.bsky.social @bristol247.bsky.social

Following the joint letter from senior faith leaders on migration rhetoric, we want to reaffirm that the Diocese stands against all forms of hatred towards refugees and any other vulnerable groups in society. 🔗To read more about the joint letter: www.bristol.anglican.org/news/bishops...

I've just written to all of the non-Green MPs who have signed @carladenyer.bsky.social's pavement parking EDM. Please can you write to your MP and ask them to sign it? It puts pressure on the UK Government to provide a policy context for local councils to act! edm.parliament.uk/early-day-mo...

😡 Thames Water wanted to use a £3bn emergency loan to pay its executives huge bonuses. 🤮 This after Thames discharged 50% more raw sewage into rivers in 2024. The bonuses have been stopped, but the message is clear: end the scam and bring water back into public hands.

You won’t hear about it in the media but 400,000 people of all ages, religions and backgrounds marched together through central London yesterday, demanding an end to genocide. #FreePalestine #Nakba77 @stwc.bsky.social

Every day I am proud of my ward mate Sibusiso and my @greenparty.org.uk colleagues across the country. Together and shoulder to shoulder with our residents, we stand up to fascism and say No, not on our watch, not in our city.

The Mothers,1922 woodcut by Käthe Kollwitz, the artist is known for her anti war stance, which drew on her own experience of love and loss #WomensArt

Massive anti-genocide protest in London today, hundreds of thousands demand justice and an end to Israel’s ongoing genocide of Gaza. #3E #EndImpunity #freepalestine

Around 600000 people marched on London today, in commemoration of the Nakba and in support of the people of Gaza. Huge numbers of peaceful marchers. Not a mention of it on the BBC news. Our state broadcaster is not fit for purpose. #gaza #rally #nakba #bbc

"We will not be limited by intimidation, we will not be driven by hate, we will not be driven by rage, because we understand that our truest measure is humanity" A truly inspiring speech from Cllr Tshabalala at today's rally against the far right. @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social was out in numbers!

The 2025 Bristol Short Story Prize shortlist is now live: bit.ly/4k7rSio A huge thank you to our incredible judging panel: @jancarsonwrites.bsky.social, Kate Johnson and @peacemedie.bsky.social for their time, commitment and enthusiasm. Congratulations to this year’s shortlisted authors!

Bristol Green Party councillors stood their ground with the rest of those demonstrating against the Far Right today. Cllr Sibusiso Tshabalala - Central Ward - gave a stirring speech on humanity and solidarity right in front of the cenotaph.

Went to the #bristol #antifascist protest today. Largely peaceful, with ukip hugely outnumbered. My heart goes out to all those affected by the awful, bigoted, cruel views of the rightwing, who are becoming bolder by the day. We must not let them take hold in our wonderful #cityofsanctuary.

Today and every day we celebrate the power of LGBTIQA+ communities in striving for a more just world for everyone. #IDAHOBIT

Love this article. Some favourites in there. I really miss reading to my kids! www.theguardian.com/books/2025/m...

I love these little observations. @mirandakeeling.com - George is like your reflection on the other side of the world!

Generative artificial so-called "intelligence" is actually plagiarism on a giant scale

I grew up knowing nothing of this – luckily there are now great books for teachers, educators and parents with a global perspective on WW2 for young readers. (personally have mixed feelings about VE/VJ day and would prefer the International Day of Peace (21st September) marked instead) #kidlituk

What a line from Warren Buffett this morning: “Be kind, and the world is better off. I'm not sure that the world will be better off if I'm richer." [applause] 🙏🏼

Still waiting for Farage-mesmerised BBC to devote more than passing sentence to fact that Greens have more councillors than Reform and that Ed Davey's Lib Dems have all bit wiped out the Tories in their traditional shire heartlands....

(... which is more than Reform, by the way)

Just got back from seeing #shaparakkhorsandi in N Somerset & so wanted to stay & get a book & chat walnut walls, red books and free of admin! Sadly had to get back to the big city before our babysitter turned into a pumpkin 😕 Go see her, she was fab! Although some worryingly relatable stuff 😂 #adhd

Worried about the rise of Reform? Angry that Labour aren't doing enough? There is only one thing to do 👇 Join.greenparty.org.uk

Thank you everyone who supported this case. Todays judgement in the Court of Appeal is a massive win for democracy in the UK🙏

Another record year for the Green Party 👏 859 Councillors on 170 Councils in England & Wales Now join us to keep Greens growing and to take the fight to Reform join.greenparty.org.uk

I’m thrilled that from 2027 all new homes in England will be built with solar panels—a big green win! I’ve been raising this in Parliament time and again since I was elected—it’s fantastic to see that work paying off for families and the planet. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

This is brilliant news! And long overdue. Thank you @elliechowns.bsky.social for championing the cause at every opportunity 💚
